I had my teeth cleaned with the hygienist for the first time five weeks ago, I have been getting three cleanings a year for the past 32 years because of periodontal issues. I had no pain or sensitivity whatsoever before this cleaning. It was the most abusive cleaning I’ve ever received, with they hygienist bearing down into periodontal pockets, doing circular rotations with her tool to further inflame and enlarge pockets, using the high powered equipment near sensitive gum tissues and pushing back my gum line. She even clipped off a piece of gum tissue in my upper right interior side. This caused bleeding, inflammation, pain, to the point where I could not eat food for 2 days afterwards. I have lost 10 pounds in the last month. We ended up canceling a visit to see friends and family we have not seen in over 2 years because of this. Then in came the dentist, who counted my fillings and said one piece of popcorn will ruin one of those and told me I would need to have my jaw broken if I… wanted to have a straight teeth. She launched into how I needed a tooth extracted and both the hygienist and her were saying yes in tandem you need to do this or you will loose all of your teeth in a row and you'll get a systemic blood infection if you don't. She was going on about x-rays and needing x-rays and how she didn’t have x-rays, but there was x-rays on the monitor. To me she made absolutely no sense. Four weeks later I went to a professional dentist who took multiple x-rays and said nothing was wrong with my teeth, but she could see trauma to my gums. She asked if the woman had done a periodontal chart, I said no but she seemed to be targeting my pockets and causing greater harm. She didn't disagree. She said there was still blood in my mouth from this and it would take time to heal. She could see where her cleaning had taken part of the gum tissue off in the upper left quadrant. Why would they do this? Seems bad for business. Whatever their reason it was clearly extremely abusive, unprofessional and made no sense.
