I saw Dr. Erin Dautremont for management of a long-standing prescription, specifically, a controlled medication (a benzodiazepine) that I’ve taken responsibly for over a decade with no history of misuse or dependency issues. Dr. Dautremont abruptly refused to continue the prescription, declined to provide a taper plan, and offered no referral to a specialist for appropriate follow-up. She did not offer a bridge prescription to safely cover the gap until I could find a psychiatrist. Instead, she handed me a generic flyer directing me to a public website (Psychology Today). That was the extent of her guidance. This is not how controlled medications are supposed to be discontinued, especially not with Medicaid patients who have limited access to alternative providers. Sudden withdrawal from benzodiazepines can be dangerous, even life-threatening. At minimum, a safe and ethical approach requires a transition plan, clinical referrals, or tapering support. In my experience, Dr. Dautremont… demonstrated a lack of empathy and poor continuity of care. I would strongly caution patients with complex medication histories or chronic mental health conditions to seek out a provider with more experience and a clearer understanding of safe medication management.

Doctor was very considerate, kind and listened.

Erin is a great doctor I just wish we could review other (homeopathic) solutions.
