Dr. Erin Kathleen Hennessey, MD

For someone who claims expertise in ID'ing delirium and talking with families through a transition to comfort care, she sure didn't understand that a patient can appear to be A&O x3 and still be delirious (esp a patient with a lot of prior mental discipline). If a pt doesn't understand a machine is keeping them alive, that counts as not being able to make an informed decision. She caused a delay in transition to comfort care bc she chose to argue with me over keeping my father alive so his wife could see him (which turned out to be necessary bc he passed within hours to the surprise of the ICU staff), instead of communicating to us the new finding that he had brain tumors (which I separately found out about via patient portal result, and my family accordingly activated comfort care measures). ICU is stressful, I get that, and my dad was severely distressed. But I feel like Dr. Hennessey's unprofessionalism and lack of compassion made things 10x harder for my family. Documenting this so… other families can be aware of this doc.
