Meet Dr. Erin
Dr. Erin Johnson DDS, MS is a native of Grand Rapids Michigan, where she competed as a competitive swimmer while spending her summers teaching swimming lessons. She continued her swimming career during her 4 years at Calvin College, graduating with degrees in biology and biochemistry. It was during her years training in the pool that she first realized her desire to pursue a career working with children. She combined her interest in science and medicine with that of working with kids with her decision to become a pediatric dentist. Dr. Erin graduated from The University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 2006, and completed her Master’s Degree and residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Michigan in 2008. Her graduate research involved sedation, and was published in the Journal of Pediatric Dentistry in 2010.
Dr. Erin met and married her husband, Spokane native Dr. Bret Johnson, while in dental school in Michigan. After completion of their training, they …moved back to Spokane to begin work in private practice. Upon moving to Spokane, she began working as an associate pediatric dentist at The KiDDS Place Dentistry for Children.
Dr. Erin became Spokane’s first Board Certified female Pediatric Dentist in 2009, and has physician privileges at Sacred Heart Hospital, Valley Hospital and Holy Family Hospital. She is a part-time clinical faculty member at Eastern Washington University’s School of Dental Hygiene. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Washington State Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Washington State Dental Association, and the Spokane District Dental Society. She has volunteered for Special Olympics Special Smiles, as well as Give Kids A Smile, and has appeared on the KHQ help desk multiple times to answer dental questions from the Spokane community.
Dr. Erin and Dr. Bret enjoy spending time with their Golden Retriever, Maize and her Vizsla Blue (named as a salute to The University of Michigan). They also enjoy backpacking, camping, skiing and hiking.
Meet Dr. Becky
Dr. Becky Van Gemert Coombs, DDS was raised in Spokane the second of five children. She attended Gonzaga Prep and the University of Washington, spending her summers both nannying and working in an orthodontic office where her tremendously rewarding experiences in patient care ultimately led to the desire to become a dentist. Dr. Becky graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 2002 and worked as a general dentist until 2008. Throughout this time, she particularly enjoyed working with children and decided to further her training by completing a residency in pediatric dentistry through the University of Washington.
Dr. Becky is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Washington State Dental Association, the Washington State Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the Spokane District Dental Society. In addition to her clinical duties, Dr. Becky also enjoyed her time as a clinical instructor at the Eastern Washington University Hygiene School. Her current research interest involves early access, a plan designed to facilitate dental visits for all children before the age of one as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists. She also continues to be active in the community and has volunteered for the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile and Give Kids a Smile.
Dr. Becky is tremendously excited to be settling in her native Spokane with her husband, Cody, and Cocker Spaniel, Knuckles. She takes immense pleasure in the many outdoor activities and natural beauty of the Inland Northwest and may often be found at the lake surrounded by family.
