Dr. Erin E Krebs, MD

It is deceptive and harmful to publish a medical study that falsely suggests opioid therapy is ineffective for chronic pain. Dr. Krebs should be forthcoming and transparent about not providing responsible and reasonable criteria and standards for a chronic pain study. Problem #1 ~ Dr. Krebs" opioid study patients did not have significant pain. Her patients did not have the degree of pain or type of pain to warrant their treatment with opioid pain medication. Problem #2 ~ Dr. Krebs' opioid patients received less than the typical starting dose of opioids. Problem #3 ~ Dr. Krebs' opioid patients received inadequate, non-therapuetic pain control. Problem #4~ Dr. Krebs failed to make adjustments to her opioid patients' medication, and failed to provide her opioid patients with supplemental therapies. (Any study should recognize typical chronic pain patients use various treatments, including things like heat, ice, muscle cream, etc). Problem #5~ Dr. Krebs accommodated her… non opioid group patients with adequate pain relief, and with more appropriate care, such as adjustments, and such as MULTIPLE sources of pain treatment and relief, including synthetic opioid TRAMADOL!! Dr Erin Krebs study on opioids for chronic pain is deliberately misleading. She does not address chronix, intractable pain!

I was disgusted and appalled to find this 'Dr.' is apart of seeing Any care and policies that effect our US Veterans... This woman could jeopardize the well fare of a dead dog, and our Veterans Would be safer and better treated with issues of chronic pain at a veterinarian's office of they at least receive 90 hours of pain management training in college!! Her 'medical trail tests' are a farce and deceptive in their wording towards the treatment of chronic disease that cause pain, she originally sites words as moderate-to-severe , but in testing patients were at 3.5-4. on pain scale. This would not indicate at all she was observing patients of serious significant chronic pain, but it didn't stop her from useing the type of inflammatory lingo that stigmatizes pain patients of serious chronic disease . Also, she does Not admit to the specific medications and dosages that were used in the study in her article , which leads to an obvious sense of bias or even test that purposely constructed… for a desired outcome. For example: if a person had very mild OA not present in their spine and was give 200mgs of Advil once or twice daily, and the group that received narcotic therapy got .5-1. Hydrocodone I would dare say we would see these exact same results as her test concluded. These patients were never offered genuine management of pain or individualize care, dimensions of max dosing on Nasid were never disgust in her article. Agendasizing individuals should Not be working in our government nor overseeing the care of Anyone especially our Veterans that come home with many complex medical needs that need to be addressed and treated fully including their pain. Last time I read about issues with our Veterans not receiving pain treatment it was said in the article that almost 47% a veterans I've been cut off completely of their pain medication, others are being tapered, and many are apart of the growing number of patients with chronic untreated pain that are committing suicide in America. Please fight for our Veterans! They deserve to be safe ,health and without pain at home! To those in office : Fire this woman and get a Real anesthesiologist/Dr. to be head of our Veterans pain prevention and management.

Government doctors are at the bottom of the totem pole in knowledge. Being a veteran myself I was appalled to read her article in the Journal of the American Medical Association about chronic pain. She states physical therapy, exercise are the best for chronic pain. I was shot in Vietnam and have IC (painful bladder). Those treatments do not work. Narcotics do. I wish she had this 24/7 brutal pain and not even given an aspirin. Guys, gals stay far away from this idiot.
