Dr. Ernest William Kornmehl, MD

I found this amazing Doctor by an extensive research on the internet. I have suffered with dry eyes for years and no real help. I knew the minute I met him, he was going to help me. I am looking forward to finally having someone who knows how to treat this debilitating condition. Thank you God for leading me to him.

I am a senior executive for a large multinational corporation and have had very red, burning dry eyes for over 15 years. My business travel has enabled me to spend six years seeing the top corneal specialists in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Baltimore, New York and Miami. No one could help me and I became very distraught. I was convinced my red, burning eyes was affecting my career advancement and personal life. Several of the specialists mentioned I should see Dr. Kornmehl if my travels took me to Boston. Seven years ago I decided to travel to Boston at my own expense and consult with Dr. Kornmehl. This was the best decision I ever made. He changed my life in two months. The staff are extraordinarily kind, friendly and efficient. Dr Kornmehl is brilliant, thorough, and very articulate. He can speak quickly but is very patient and will repeat himself and answer all your questions. My wife fell in love with him. Every step of his treatment plan was explained and most… importantly managed my disease and I am now comfortable. Three years ago I had LASIK with Dr. Kornmehl and my expectations were exceeded. Most importantly, my disease is still under excellent control under his exceptional care. Dr. Kornmehl needs to do something (infomercial?) so patients can find him more easily. It doesn’t seem fair that most patients get to him only through referral by other top doctors.

I had LASIK in Texas eight years ago that did not go well. I saw several corneal specialists in Houston and Dallas that could not help me. When I moved to Boston four years ago I met with three specialists who could not manage my discomfort or improve my vision. A doctor at MGH insisted I see Dr. Kornmehl who turned my life around in five weeks. This is the most efficient, friendly doctors office I have ever seen. Dr. Kornmehl came up with a detailed plan to manage my dry eyes with several treatments prior to revising my LASIK. I wish I had come across Dr. Kornmehl earlier but am grateful and thankful that I was fortunate to be his patient! He is truly a miracle worker!

I recently had a consult at a Lasik Center that does a lot of advertising but was not a discount operation. I was told I was an excellent candidate and was signed up for surgery 2 weeks from my visit. My mothers friend, a physician, urged me to get a second opinion with Dr. Kornmehl. As soon as I entered the office I immediately felt a wonderful combination of professionalism and warmth. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Kornmehl, who is very efficient and kind, gave me a very detailed exam and found a retinal tear. He sent me to a wonderful retinal specialist who manged the situation and told me that if I had Lasik I would have likely had a retinal detachment. Thank you Dr. Kornmehl!!

Ellen explained the process during my initial call in great detail in a friendly manner. Samantha put me at ease the moment I walked through the door. Dr. Kornmehl is exemplary in every way. During the surgery Dr. Kornmehl and the staff kept me relaxed and informed throughout. I had LASIK several years ago in California but was never very pleased with my result. I had blurred vision and a persistent aching pain in my eyes. Multiple eye doctors told me there was not much to be done. My fiancee did an extensive search and found Dr. Kornmehl. The staff is wonderful. Very kind and supportive. Dr. Kornmehl did a meticulous evaluation and developed a treatment plan that involved punctal plugs, warm compresses and LipiFlow. In five weeks my vision is clear and I am completely comfortable. I forgot how beautiful the world can be. Dr. Kornmehl explained everything very clearly and was very kind. I have referred many friends and relatives from across the country to Dr. Kornmehl and they all have benefited from his extraordinary care.
