Dr. Ernest Michael Sussman, MD

Dr. Sussman was very patient and explained each procedure accurately. He made me feel comfortable by asking if I had any questions. Unfortunately, many of the reviews on here are false and even copy and pasted!

I would recommend Dr. Sussman to anyone considering a vasectomy. Don't be fooled by the negative reviews, he is a wonderful doctor and very insightful.

Dr Sussman is very unprofessional. He has no bed side manners. I would never recommend him to anyone. He doesn’t care about his patients needs.

It was evil of this lunatic to mischaracterize in my visit report my questions about & knowledge of my medical status as abrasive & bizarre. Instead of communicating normally, he was the one who was abrasive & bizarre. His diagnosis happened to be correct, that it was an either or situation. There are plenty of other competent doctors one can see without being subjected to the possibility of getting falsely slandered by a doctor, for God's sake. My family doctor couldn't believe that he would behave so oddly and discontinued recommending him. I'll never get over that a doctor would so abuse his power to write office visit reports to maliciously slander me like that. It's something no one would get over. I do feel better knowing that I've warned people in this forum & finally vented about it. It's so over the top. Uch.

I've always believed that things happen for a reason and that was the case with Doctor Sussman. While visiting family in California I had a medical incident and went to a local ER. I was examined and advised to see a specialist when I returned to Arizona. I found Doctor Sussman on-line and called his office as well as logged on to his website. I did a summary of the California incident and included my medical report from the ER. He was able to see the summary and I was able to see him within a few days. With the ER report Doctor Sussman went above and beyond working around his scheduled patients to do a full exam & test to determine my condition. On the same day I was seen, he arranged a date for surgery to resolve and address my medical condition. At the end of my visit I told him that I was blown away with the one-day results on my issue.. He looked me in the eye and said "I'm a Doctor and that's what I do"! He said that it was obvious that I need emergency care and that's what he… did. I've been a business man for many years and understand that on-line reviews mainly and many times are a way for someone to vent. They are mostly presented from someone that is amazed or upset with results or lack of results. The conditions and results of medical issues are within our own bodies. Sometimes they can be fixed other times they can not. I'm moving on to the next stage with my issues with Doctor Sussman and I am hopeful for favorable results. I have 100% confidence in the good doctor on the upcoming surgery. The office procedure with the Doctor and his assistant Shawn with through and prompt. One Doctor can't be all things to all people, but I trust this Doctor and will follow his instructions and hope for the best.

I saw Ernest Sussman about 10 years ago. Unfortunately I wasn't aware of this site at that time. My experience with him is in line with the 69% of respondents who are "Extremely Dissatisfied". An earlier reviewer wrote "This Doctor is the worse I had in 74 years. He doesn't liston , in a hurry, won't let you talk, interupts, money is first..." That's it in a nutshell. The specifics - I'd had a PSA test, my PSA at a clinic was a bit over the high end of the scale and I didn't realize how unreliable PSA tests are. So I scheduled an app't. with him. He tried to set a record for "Least time ever spent with a patient", even saying to me "DON'T TALK!" as he jotted some quick notes. He said I should get a biopsy, and that there was a 50% (not sure the exact figure he quoted) chance I have cancer. I'd never had any serious illness and was devastated. Tried to ask him some questions, and I recall his response "If after the biopsy we find cancer cells, I'll give you all the compassion you want.… There's nothing to talk about now." And like a flash, he was gone. I asked the desk and assistants if I could get some reading material on prostate cancer. It literally took them about 15 minutes to come up with a slim pamphlet. Went to my girl friend in tears to tell her his prediction and yet he had given me almost no information so it was very scary. I have never before or since encountered such a callous, uncaring, unempathetic doctor - for that matter, rarely if ever a human being with so little humanity. He was with a group practice at the time. When I checked a bit later, was told he was no longer in practice. Now I find he's baaaacckk. And that my experience was normal for him. Summary - Horrible doctor, avoid at all costs, run - do not walk - away from him. I only regret not having made a complaint to a Medical Review/Licensing Board. PS - Needless to say, I skipped the biopsy, saw another doctor for that and the result was negative, read up on prostate cancer and decided all the treatments if I do ever have that cancer are treatments I do not want. 10 years later as far as I know (stopped PSA tests) I'm fine.

When he suddenly disappeared from his last office by Canyon Gate I was hoping he was gone for good. I had a mild rise in my psa and a normal Gleason score. He did a biopsy and told me if I didn't hear from him in 2 weeks things were ok. 5 weeks later he called me to say we need to operate. I said no and he gave no other option. I went to UCLA Med center where I was given a few choices including lets just keep an eye on it. Sussman released me and then called in 4 months wondering where I had been. He insisted I come in to be checked out. My co-pay was $50. I waited an exam room for 30 minutes when finally poked his head in and said how are you feeling? 5 minutes later the nurse said you can leave. 3 months later I get a bill for $68. Doctors are getting away from the psa testing and he hasn't a clue. Something is very wrong here.

This Dr. Is a jerk Really bad Doctor. All he cares about is money My first visit he spent less then 5 min and charge me for a extended visit I called my ins co. And told them he over charges Don't go to this guy He won't do anything to help you .
