Dr. Ernst Franklin Hoffman, DO

Hoffman is awesome. I love the way he talks. Very direct and to the point. Does not waste my time or his. Definitely recommend.

Hoffdaddy is entertaining AF he always knows the right thing to say. 10/10 would recommend.

Took my mom to ER and had the Worst Dr and experience. Dr came in and said "headache? "er?" and shook his head. As a healthcare provider I hope I never treat patients or family like he did to us. A reason this Dr has no good reviews. Unity point should be ashamed to employ this Dr

Awful ER visit. Wouldn't run the tests my PCP and urgent care said to run. Ran a different CT which wasn't needed that showed no problem (of course it was normal that wasn't the body part that hurt and wasn't working right). Didn't care and didn't listen. When I was to be discharged he made a statement that proved he wasn't listening to my symptoms the whole time. And he actually walked out of the room while I was listing my symptoms (therefore missed some keep symptoms). A great nurse tried to advocate for me and he didn't even listen to the nurse but dismissed him. He kept referring to a prior ER visit that had nothing to do with my current issue and kept saying well what did they tell you last time? It was a brand new issue!!! Urgent care even told me to go to ER !!!

Very arrogant. Acts as if it’s an inconvenience to him to see patients. Typical person who became a doctor not because he cares about people but because it feeds his over-inflated ego. I wouldn’t let him treat a sewer rat.

Asked all the right questions. Didn’t push narcotics. Good doc!

As a medical student, I normally don't rag on physicians because I would not want it to happen to me. That being said, Dr. Hoffman is extremely unprofessional with zero regard toward his patients. I was seen by him and completely dismissed. After sitting for 5 hours, (without complaining about the wait or the lack of update), I asked for something for pain for my dislocation. An hour later, I was told no because "Dr. Hoffman doesn't want to give you anything for pain". What wasn't mentioned was that he didn't believe I had any. After requesting a CT, I was told "it's not going to change my diagnosis but if you want to pay for it, sure." When the CT came back showing a dislocation, he sent another physician in to reduce it, I'm assuming, because he didn't want to hear what I had to say. Very unprofessional and genuinely doesn't care about patients.

How he has stayed employed as long as he has I do not understand. I have anxiety and depression and suffer from panic attacks and bouts of major chest pain and blood pressure spikes (205/135). When being rolled in by ambulance emt’s dr Hoffman looked at me and rolled his eyes and said “again really!” Very rude bedside manner. Literally said to me “well what do you want me to do about it”. He will run minimal protocol required then send you on your way. Whole time acting like he’d rather be anywhere but there. And forget about any compassion especially if you have any mental health issues, you will be treated as if you are just faking it by him. I pointed this out to the great nurse I had and she was embarrassed and said we hear that a lot about him.

Couldn’t be bothered to listen or try to assist in emergency room. Had x-rays performed, but never gave results. Didn’t listen when told medicine didn’t work. Even worse - told my Mom she’s too old for help! Horrible doctor.
