Dr. Esperanza Garcia-Alvarez, MD

I rarely post negative reviews of anything. This situation however takes the prize for the worst possible experience at the doctor's office that i have ever experienced. This "doctor" is not in it to help children. Turns away children with appointments and in pain "because she is overbooked". 50 miles we traveled to see her, because we were told she's the best. Only to be turned away. They apologized and offered to reschedule a month and a half away. They suggested this to a kid in tears from pain. Obviously I will take this to whatever board oversees these people. Learn from our experience, do not deal with her. She's a monster.

She took time to explain everything to my teenager. She did not rush and answered all questions and concerns. Dr. G. is very friendly, knowledgeable and I would highly recommend her. Great follow up with us and our other doctors.

While she took time with us in the consultation that's as far as the positive goes in out total experience with her and her practice. Over a period of thee weeks our 3 year old son needed to come back for an out patient visit and then be admitted into Lutheran General Hospital for nearly four days. Trough it all it was very difficult to reach her, to get responses to our questions and concerns. There was much inefficiency in getting X-ray orders and results to and from radiology. We never really felt that her office handled us professionally or with sensitivity. I can only Hope they can be trusted to transfer all his medical records in a timely and complete fashion when we move on to see a different doctor.

I met Dr. Garcia, she's very nice, however, have you noticed 12 locations??? Trying to get ahold of this Dr is a nightmare. She's nowhere to be found when needed. The # that shows for most of the offices, is the same # so-- nothing. The staff at the Alexian facility does not get back to you with timely information-- if at all and because you can't speak to the Dr it only adds to the frustration. She doesn't have her own phone service, so you can't leave her a message; when you try the only thing that happens is that they send the call to whoever Dr. is on call that day.

I love having a woman doctor for my teenage daughter. And Dr Garcia was kind and helpful. I would recommend her to others.

Dr. Garcia may be a fine doctor but her bedside manner is not good. My daughter was having stomach cramps and happened to have one when she was visiting with Dr. Garcia --- good timing. The problem was that Dr. Garcia showed very little care for the fact that she was in pain.The night after the appointment, the stomach cramps got worse. I called her in the morning and she very abruptly told me to go to the emergency room. We did and she spoke with the people in the emergency room. She never followed up with us following the experience.I think she and the group of doctors she's with are seeing too many patients and don't have enough time to take care for their patients properly.I wish I had a recommendation for someone else but I'd recommend you look for someone else.
