I have Delta Dental PPO for over a year in PA. I had to have a root canal recently. The front desk of the endodontist advised me verbally that the cost would be ~$800 of which DD would pay 50% (~$400). Then I received a claim from DD saying the would not anything for the root canal and I was responsible for $1214.00 (D3330) endodontic therapy, molar tooth (excluding final restorations) Tooth: 30; Endodontist fee $1214.00; Accepted Fee $805.00; Delta Dental Pays $0.00; Your Cost $1214.00 In inquired DD why my plan says it pays 50% for a root canal but when I had it done, they would not pay anything. They that was because my endodontist submitted a CPT code of:(D3330)endodontic therapy, molar tooth (excluding final restorations)Tooth:30 which is NOT covered by DD. How are we supposed to know? I asked them and they said my endodontist should have provided me with a written plan that included costs and DD coverage. Now I know what to ask for but be careful with DD as they have these… hidden coverages that are not clearly spelled out.
