Dr. Estela Valerian Ogiste, MD

A competent doctor but horrible waiting time and sometimes too many appointments for one problem. Each time you have to co-pay making the visits unnecessarily expensive and time consuming. I suggested they send me the diagnosis by mail if there is no change in my condition. This is what my primary care doctor does and it saves time and money.

Like two years ago my mother in law went to Dr Ogistes office. I dont rememember who refer my mother to this dr. Ever since she had her surgery, my mother was sugesting me to go and see Dr Ogistes. Finnally last month I called to make an appointemnt But I did not know that 20 other peole were getting appointments for the same day and the same time. Before I starte descriing my horrible experience in that office I have to explain one thing. I live in Upstate NY, but since my mother recomended her I did not mind the one and half hour drive from my house to 116 st in Manhattan. Well I arrived at 1030 am for my appointment which was at 11 in the morning. As soon as I arrived to the office, the lady in the front desk gave me some papers to fill and inmediately proceded to ask me for my co-payment ( which was 20 dollars) God forbid you sit down with out pay first, Which is something that I do not understand, because if you still have to go to a proccess why greet the patiente colecting the… oney because at that point they had check your insurance and they are going to charge more than that to them, but anyawys, that's their policy and I m not mad at that in specific. I sat dowm to wait for my ame to call. The office was full of patientes, As time was passing a lady sat next to me she was talking to her companion but I could not help over hearing that she was there since 9 in the morning and had to wait because she was going to an office that the optometrist told her that she had to wait because she was too busy to take care of her, that unfortunately she had 5 patientes to take care first. (by the way she was the only person in that office with manners ) The lady sat down to wait, 10 mins later another member of the staff passed by and asked her " ARE YOU STILL HERE " the lady told her that she did not have anymore choice than to wait the secretary told her " why dont you go so there were be more space in the waiting area that was crowded" I fount that answer to harsh comming from a person that has to deal with people everyday. The lady sat down and continued her waiting period. By 12:45 pm I was tired of waiting and no results. tHAT DAY i HAD ANOTHER APPOINTMENT in Yonkers that I could not attend. When I went to the recepcionist to asked her how many people in front of me she gave me a look and a attitude that I froze. Then after being humiliated by her I procceded to tell her that I could not wait any longer that I needed either to be seen or to at least tell me the waiting time. She just trow at me my co-payment and asked me if I wanted to re-schedule. After she trwo me the oney right there I decided that I was not comming back to that Office, so I asked for my paper work because on them I had all my personnal data, but to my sorprise they supposelly misplace my folder. I told the recepcionist that I was not leaving that office without my papers, 3 hours passed and they could not locate my folder, I was sorprissed because that it is not a big office to loose something so quickly. When I was waiting I saw Dr Ogiste out of her office and I went to speak with her, but she was as rude with me, she was more RUDE than the recepcionist, I felt so humiliatted when in fron of everybody she just shouted at me " I don't have any time to speak with you " By 3 in the afternoon I was livid and very upset, I could not understand that unprofesionalism. They had me sitting dowmn in the waiting area until I decided to tell them that I was going to stay there until my papers were found, and if they need to call the cops I was ready to take that problem to the next level. Two minutes later out of the blue my papers decided to come out they hidding place. That only led me to think that one member of the staff were hidding them. I left that office, mad because they made me waste my whole Saturday, ( I work the whole week and I was looking foward to spend my Saturday in a different way ) I missed my other appointment because that incident. Dr Ogistes might be a very god Dr, but her manners and her rudness let me to think that she is not as good as she thinks she is. I am very dissapointed and I would NEVER permit anybody that I know go to her office... They all have to take some classes of MANNERS, Office skills and also they should check that in NY there is a lot of Doctors and they have to realized that without patientes they would loose they're jobs
