Dr. Etan Paul Sugarman

First time seeing Dr Sugarman for a hip consultation. My X-rays were reviewed and Dr Sugarman after reviewing concluded my hip surgery knowing how much pain I was in. He was willing to answer all my questions and date was set that day. I am grateful to be having it soon. I am sure now I am in the right place. Thank you for giving me hope again.

My experience at AHI has been all very positive throughout my hip replacement. Dr Sugarman has excellent bedside manners and was available to answer my questions at all times. He leads an excellent team of PAs and physical therapists. My only regret was not getting the surgery sooner, but that was on me

Doc is always tentative to my concerns and takes time to listen to my questions. I always feel like he has my best interest in mind. He is always so kind and does a great job of explaining things about my condition.

He was kind and empathetic to my situation. He repeated information as necessary, and was very reassuring that he’ll do an excellent job. We’ll see how it goes on Tuesday!

I came to American hip institute for 3 labrum tears in my thigh. Dr.Sugarman thought it best for me to get a MRI with contrast to see if i needed a hip replacement instead of Arthoscopy for my 3 tears. After getting the MRI with contrast it was noted that i didn’t need hip replacement. Dr. Sugarman decided he didn’t want to repair my 3 teared. labrums , although that was the reason i come from St. Louis to Chicago. Dr.Sugarman never expressed to me that i would not get the 3 tears repaired until after he realized i didn’t need hip replacement, so Dr. Sugarman man gave me a referral of a good orthopedic doctor here in Clayton MO. I called the referred doctor to schedule an appointment, , after my appointment with Dr. Sugarman and while i was still at the Hip Institute office. just to find out the referral was. a pediatric orthopedic. Again let down by Dr. Sugarman. At this point i’m really upset for traveling to Chicago from St. Louis thinking i was going to the best, just to be denied… service. i’m not sure if i was denied service due to the tears being related to my job working at Amazon and the fact that i’m a black women and this would’ve confirm the 3 torn labrum’s in my thigh. All i know is i went there for the tears, if Dr. Sugarman didnt want to perform Arthoscopic procedure, i should’ve known after the first visit, instead of going to Brightlight imaging which also was referred by Dr. Sugarman. What was the point of rescheduling me if you knew you weren’t going to repair my 3 tears in my thigh. Being let down and disappointed is an under statement.

Dtr sugarman is very nice and pleasant to talk to. This makes him easy to ask questions of. He takes all the time you need to explain. After surgery he called my husband right away to give an update. My pain is so far less than I expected which I have to attribute to dtr sugarman and the entire AHI process. It’s Very thorough and professional.

Patient and thorough. Glad that Dr Sugarman is my doctor.

Dr. Sugarman and staff are the best! They take the time to answer questions and make sure your needs are met. I can’t say enough good things about them. They are the best!

Dr. Sugarman has the best bedside manner. He and his staff make you feel like you are the only patient they have. I never feel rushed and am always encouraged to ask questions. I would and have recommended him to people I know. Great team AHI!
