Since needing behavioral health care following the birth of my son I have seen two other physicians. I was relieved after my first visit, and so was my husband, that finally I had a physician that was astute, perceptive and dedicated, and more importantly not just arbitrarily prescribing medications.

I was relieved after my first visit with Dr. Pien, and so was my husband, that finally I had a physician who was astute, perceptive and dedicated, and more importantly not just arbitrarily prescribing medications.

When explaining one symptom to him (the which turned out to be an indicator of my true diagnosis), he was very brief. He seemed to run down a checklist of questions, without actually engaging in follow-up conversation. He discussed my medical history with a med student while I waited outside - with the door ajar. When referring me to therapists, he mistakenly gave me one's home number. Non-Christians be warned; one therapist was strongly religious. Follow-up appointments were five minutes long. Avoid him.

I've suffered with depression and anxiety for 35+ years and Dr. Ethan Pien has truly been a blessing. He is the sixth doctor that I've seen during these many years and if not for his patience, compassion, understanding, and guidance along with his heartfelt and sincere prayers, I would still be in an empty and dark place (even though I've been blessed with a good childhood and wonderful family) . He has helped to give me the tools through medication, discussion, and prayer to successfully break through the strongholds that have pushed me down for so long. He is non-judgemental, yet doesn't sugar coat but encourages. I sincerely believe with all my heart and spirit that he cares deeply for his patients and he performs his duties as if he is performing them for the Lord, working diligently and with all professionalism and aloha in the best interest of his patients. This may not be the end of my personal journey but I am grateful and thankful to be on this journey with one in whom I… have full confidence and trust.

My family and I are very grateful for the guidance of Dr. Ethan Pien. He shows genuine kindness and care to improve quality of life for his patients. When I was severely depressed a year ago, he made necessary time to meet with my father and me, after his normal office hours. Dr. Ethan Pien has a very calming presence that helped to ease my anxiety. He prescribed medication to help me sleep and deal with depression. I appreciate that Dr. Pien is helping to adjust and regulate my medication. I would definitely recommend Dr. Ethan Pien to my family and friends who need a psychiatrist. You don't realize how important mental health care is... until you or your loved ones need it.

I didn't plan to see him but was "bamboozled" by someone who gave me directions to his office instead of to the physician I had phoned and left a message. I have a photograph of the the record of the call where I left a message, showing the date and time and number which is not his office. When I arrived at the wrong address, his staff suggested I meet with him because of the "address" mistake. I did. I never returned and would caution anyone against seeing him. When I later complained about the mix up he blame shifted on to me and suggested that maybe I had made two appointments with two physicians on the same day at different addresses. That's not what my phone shows. He's the single most unprofessional member of the medical organization that I've met, wasted time and money with in the last 25 years. Avoid him.

Bedside Mannger = I don't understand this term so no rating. Follows up After Visit = N/A, though if I emailed him due to urgent matter, he'll call to follow up. I'm grateful to God that He has found me a compassionate and caring doctor. Dr. Pien is comfortable to talk to as well as to discuss very sensitive topics. He is not critical and/or judgmental, counsels using positive techniques and encouragment. As I believer in Christ, we talk about scriptures, which strenghtens me tremendously and provides hope. Through his guidance, I've learn to trust and lean on God more during my struggles and hardship times. I highly recommend Dr. Pien to anyone, who is seeking professional help.

I couldn't be more thankful to have found such a wonderful doctor to help me through some dark times of depression, anxiety and ocd. His choices of medication have kept me at a very stable level, and I'm able to sleep, eat, and laugh again. This is only topped by his Godly wisdom, and his vast knowledge to help me with my condition. I couldn't recommend him highly enough. What a blessing. I have six kids which are very thankful to have their mom back!
