Dr. Eugene P. Grady, MD

Dr. Grady dismissed my concerns of constant pain and fatigue. My bloodwork all “looked normal”, I was only 30 years old (but the pain and fatigue were consistent for years at this point) so he made the comment to me of: “Are you sure there isn’t a little bit of laziness factoring in here?” ... I was sent to Physical Therapy downstairs which further exacerbated my pain and fatigue where I was told by the therapist “You have to actually DO something to have energy”. So, I was taught at Scranton Orthopedic that all of my symptoms were from me being lazy and not caring about my health. This is coming from someone who lifted weights and ran everyday... until I got sick and had to stop. This caused me to stop going to physicians all together. I was tired of being dismissed and I was literally tired. It is almost 4 years later and I have Lyme disease with multiple co-infections. I am under aggressive therapy because I have had it for so many years. The medical field is complicated.… I certainly understand the answers are not always black and white. However, don’t give up on your patients and make them feel that “it’s all in their head”. People go to the doctor for help... not to be shamed for seeking treatment.

Dr. Eugene Grady was very informational and very understanding of my complaint of pain and worked very fast to help ease my discomfort and we are working on other solutions that will be helping me with pain managentment. Thank you Dr. Grady for caring about your patients.

Dr Grady treated me for years for what I believed, based on his diagnosis, were inflammatory health problems. As my condition worsened considerably, he became less helpful (ordered labs but no other tests, NEVER did an actual physical exam to test the strength in my arms, etc). At my last visit, he told me he would no longer write my prescirptions for prednisone because he didn't believe my problems were inflammatory as my labs had been good for a while and I probably should ask my neurologist (who I saw for migraines) about my problems. Dr. Grady offered no other alternative other than "he felt he could no longer help me." I was on a high dose of prednisone at the time, and as anyone on prednisone know, you CANNOT stop it immediately without serious problems or possibly death. Dr. Grady appeared to have no regard for this, other than to tell me to see my neurologist. He was completely uncaring and had no interest whatsoever in finding out what was actually wrong with me.
