Dr. Eugene O Guillingsrud, MD

This ophthalmologist was straight into the point. He described my condition. Told me the best route to go, and if I had any more problems, come in and see him again.

Dr. Guillingsrud was very professional, pleasant, great sense of humor and willing to answer any questions I had. Also, the technician answered all my questions thoroughly along with any follow-up questions I had.

I had an excellent experience at MN Eye Consultants. Dr. Guillingsrud was informative, friendly, and thorough. Everything about this appointment was done very well and I appreciated the professional, proficient, and kind staff.

I have been seeing Dr Gullingsrud for over 10 years. This is by far the worst appointment with any doctor I have ever had in my life. I came in to see Dr Gullingsrud about whether I would have to live with eczema in my eyes for the rest of my life. The first person I saw said, I see you have an upcoming appointment in July to get your eyes checked. Do you want to do that today? I wasn’t sure and she was no help—kept repeating the same phrase “Do you want to do that today?” I felt extreme pressure to make a decision right away. Finally I said yes. Then, the technician checking my vision for new glasses seemed like she was in a big hurry. When flipping lenses to see which I could see through best, she gave me like 1 second to look. When she set the dials for my left eye, everything was all blurry. It took her several different lenses to determine she had set it up incorrectly. When I saw Dr Gullingsrud, he just repeated that I would have to live with it. It was an autoimmune… disease (I have several.). He recommended I buy individual vials of preservative free eyedrops. He said any of them should be fine. When I went to store and looked at the eyedrops, there were different manufacturers and different types of drops (lubricating, etc). There were variations in pricing. I couldn’t decide which type and brand would be best for me. I had gotten no guidance from Dr Gullingsrud. After the visit was over, I went to my car and then realized I had received no paperwork regarding my visit. No paper documenting my visit. No paper with my new eye prescription. I called medical records and the person said when the record was signed off on, he would email me my prescription—that was Friday, 5/30/2025. On Monday, 6/2/2025, I called medical records again. This time I asked for copies of the notes from the visit and both 2025 and 2024 eye prescriptions. The 5/30 visit documents had still not been signed off on. The person (she) said they could send them to me when they had been signed off on. I asked if she could email them to me, and she just kept repeating she could send them to me. I have never been so very disappointed with a doctor visit. I will not be returning to this doctor or Minnesota Eye Consultants. Reviewed in 6/6/2025

The entire visit went very smoothly and progressed.At a reasonable pace. Doctor Guillingdrud. Was thorough, friendly and assured me?Everything was just fine. Great Doctor!

I was pleased with my exam & with Kimber's preliminary tests. Dr Guillingsrud was upbeat & reassuring about my eye health & referred me for an additional exam.

Everyone I had contact with was wonderful - efficient, great communicators. Dr. Guillingsrud is super, and I would highly recommend him and the entire staff.

Both the technician and doctor were very professional. I asked a lot of questions and they were answered so I could easily comprehend. The wait time was not an issue because I did arrive with extra time. I was very satisfied with the visit. My only question I had was I didn't leave with any information on paper, but I didn't ask for it at the time (my own fault). I have a referral to a retina specialist and I will ask at that time.

Dr G was very thorough in explaining the issues I was experiencing with my eyes. He suggested a very workable plan that will be simple to follow as well. Thank you Dr G.

Always a good experience with Dr. G. And this clinic gets everything right, 5 stars for all.
