Dr. Eugene Chester Mcdanald, MD

I was referred to Dr. MacDanald many years ago, he gave me my life back. But as the years have passed prior to his retirement his attitude got worse and worse and he seemed to care less about my condition. He retired and I was relieved, but he is back in the office part-time and I had an appointment with him. He was rude and put me back on Methotrexate, and then I was to go back in 3 weeks. He needs to go back into retirement. He truly doesn't care. Doesn't believe Fibro is a disease but sure will prescribe Gabapentin. I will never return to his office.

I wrote the review entitled "Unfortunate" back in 2014. At the time, I was venting and definitely feeling resentful and fearful about being diagnosed with RA...not the time to write a review. I sincerely like Dr. McDanald and I trust him. Appointments are quick; you are called back shortly after you arrive. He keeps a detailed and updated print out of your medications and provides you with copies of your recent blood work and current medications & dosage when you leave. He's organized! When he comes in the room, he's already looked at your blood work, which tells him a lot. And, he examines your joints to see how they look as well. You do need to come prepared with questions because insurance companies dictate how much time he spends with us. I recently called the office and spoke to his medical assistant the same day. She was kind and courteous. Plus, I've had to get blood work orders on the spot and they've generated them for me quickly without advance notice. I'd say… they are pretty efficient. I definitely recommend him and feel fortunate to have him as my doctor.

Very bad attitude, doesn't listen to what is being said.

Very aloof. Physician stood about three feet from me. No eye contact. He glanced at and waived referral from my primary physician in California and made some comment about the lack of thoroughness, not taking the time to turn referral over to see information on reverse side, until I called this to his attention. He flipped it over and flipped it back. He appeared bothered by my questions. â??Iâ??ve been doing this for many years; if I am wrong, Iâ??ll eat my words.â?? I responded by telling him that I did not wish for him to eat his words, but to answer my questions and exam my arm, feet and hands. Then he rambled a diagnosis, all in medical terminology . He said he needed to input our information into the computer and that he would be right back. (now, why would he do this while we are in his office and why isnâ??t his computer in the exam room? )We sat in the exam room for about 20 minutes when he finally returned, wiping his mouth of food. On the way… out I found out that the office was having their Christmas party and that they had all kinds of food. I guess thatâ??s where he was for 20 minutes.

He needs too retire. He spends no more than three minutes with you. Every time I went to see him, I walked out with more questions than answers. Twice I was in the hospital, next day I had my appointment, so we called his office to let him know , and to make sure my appointment was canceled. This happened twice, he never showed. We spoke to his nurse to let him know. Never showed, never called. Yet the hospital was waiting for his call. On my next appointment he screamed at me like if I was a child. He was more concerned about getting paid than anything else. Of course his nurse kept her mouth shut. I was feeling so sick yet he kept screaming you could hear him all the way to the waiting room. He kept up , and down the hall dreaming. Everyone wanted to know what was up. A very big tantrum. I don't recommend him at all.

Dr McDanald is very kind and caring...I will give him that, but he is rushed and seems to have an automatic timer that goes off and he is done with you. You go to your appointment with so many concerns and questions, but either they are dismissed or not answered because after he's quickly examined your joints, he's up and headed for the door. The staff is really lacking in personality too... the front desk and the nurses. They all look and act like drones. I've yet to see any of them smile. It seems for them, it is just a job. What's more discouraging is while I am waiting to be seen, I can hear his nurse on personal calls because the exam room is right across from her cramped hallway desk. I've been about 6-7 times and she is always on personal calls. I am not saying this to be mean or spiteful, but it's particularly disturbing because they are absolutely horrible about returning patient phone calls. You are left hanging when it comes to any kind of follow up. I've never… reviewed a doctor before, but must admit I agree completely with some of the other reviews. He's a genuinely nice doctor with years of experience. So, it's discouraging to say the least, because RA can be frightening and every visit leaves you with a lot of unanswered questions and concerns.

The Doctor seemed rushed and dismissed me rather quickly, he did not pay any attention to my concerns. I was looking forward to my appointment because I want to know what is going on with me, instead I was dissappointed and more frustrated.

Dr. McDanald is an excellent doctor. He sees my daughter who is 8 years old and he really seems to care about her.

I feel he can spend a little more time with his patients. wait times are a little too long. Staff doesn't talk much. I expect a little more than feeling my elbows, toes and fingers for my copayment. It takes me longer to remove my shoes that it does to be seen.

To treat Polymyalgia Rheumatica, Dr. McDanal administered prednisone without checking on patient response. Tapered without follow up. And when patient crashed, was unavailable, would not return phone calls and left no back up. Wound up in the hospital with major relapse of illness. Considering legal action.
