Horrible doctor

Dr. Chalas has a very poor bedside manor. Does not want to stay in the room to explain the plan thoroughly, leaves the job to her PA. When you have questions she just negates them or simply rushes through them without any concern for the stress and anxiety the patient is under. When treatment other then her recommendation is brought up, doesn't say why its a good or bad idea, just says " No, I do not do this". Wheres the explanation? If other protocols then just hers are out there, then there must be a reason/research behind them. No explanation. Just no. Please go see other oncologists for second opinion. Do not give up just because she gives you no hope! I SURVIVED because I went somewhere else!!

Within seeing me in less than a minute she gave me a horrible diagnosis without wanting to do any further diagnostic testing and just offered a surgical option. I forced the issue to have the testing done to confirm the diagnosis she gave me. It came back Negative and she still insisted I had that diagnosis. Her response was I know you don't like me and well obviously I can't help you.. what do you want from me. Seriously? I was finally diagnosed properly by another doctor which it turned out to be a simple dermatological issue. SHE GAVE ME WRONG DIAGNOSIS and had me walking around thinking I had that. She was totally unprofessional and I was totally disgusted by the whole situation.

After multiple conversations with the doctor it was clear she was only after easy cases. Refuses to treat reoccurring cancers. She's a disappointment to the medical community.

BEWARE. Will only take you if you are going to be a "good outcome". Can leave you hopeless, told us "sometimes you don't want to know!" completely refused to do a PET/CT, even though it was very much so warranted. 2nd and 3rd opinion doctors were in shock. Had treatment plans, that work, ready to go. Stay away!! She now operantly sees less patients because of some board position, thank God!

I recently had to have surgery and my Surgeon was Dr. Eva Chalas. I have to say I have had many doctors over my 58 yrs and she was absolutely hands down the BEST! She was so personable and explained everything so you could actually understand what was going on and what was going to happen. I felt completely at ease before and after my surgery. Her staff is excellent they return your calls and and are the nicest people.

Dr. Eva Chalas is one of the best oncologists in the USA. "Research supports the idea that a few kind words from an oncologist — what used to be called bedside manner — can go a long way toward helping people with cancer understand their treatment, stick with it, cope better and maybe even fare better medically". I know I found this in Dr. Chalas office. She is helping me to get the best treatment that I am able to have and all the members of her team: the office assistants, managers, nurses, and doctors that are working there are helping me to avoid the stressful situations that could happen through a cancer treatment, as much as they can.

In 2001 I was diagnosed with several fibroids and was scheduled for a hysterectomy. I saw Dr. Chalas for a second opinion. She told me she did not believe I needed to have a hysterectomy and would remove the fibroids using laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Chalas performed surgery on me and all went well. She was warm, empathetic, and I cannot adequately express how much this meant to me. I was also very impressed by the nurses and surgical team at Winthrop who were very comforting and professional. I highly recommend Dr. Chalas for her skill, her professionalism and her genuine concern for her patients.

After my surgery I was told I needed chemo and radiation. During that period I had no support from her even though she was the one treating me, the office staff has no idea what's going on, there is no compassion, I had no coordination of my care, no nurse navigator, and dr chalas has terrible bedside manner. After my surgery, nothing was explained to me at all, complete lack of care. Having a caring and compassionate dr is important during cancer and this dr lacks those traits.
