Dr. Eva Elizabeth Sum, MD

Beyond her beautiful smile she was very informative and made me feel extremely comfortable she took her time and educated me on what was possibly going on thank you so much Dr. Sum I will be always grateful for your kindness.

Dr Sum called me several times after not being able to get ahold of me and explain in detail the findings of a procedure. She spent time making sure I understood all the steps and details to follow. I think she took additional time to make sure I felt comfortable and recommended other doctors to follow up with. I am thankful for her approach and look forward to ongoing visits.

Dr. Sum recommended procedures (endoscopy) while she is planning a colonoscopy sir to my age (I turned 50) and is recommended to do a colonoscopy st this she. But why a endoscopy? No issues here. Also received ultrasound results of gallbladder small polip (.8) and now she is recommending gallbladder removal. I am a puppet for procedures. Dissatisfied with her diagnosis. I also have a Ph.D. and have a brain.

Dr Sum and her team were terrific, from checking in at the front desk, to the ladies in prep and Jamie who handled my anesthesia, all the way throughout the entire process. They were efficient and pleasant. My 1st colonoscopy was nowhere near as "scary" as everyone said! I highly recommend them.

For the last 2 months aI had many tests and visits with dr. Sum. While she seems to be very knowledgeable- she is no personal or compassionate with her patients..Don't understanding fears or other things that might go through someone's heads. Seems to be busy and in rush- spending little time ..not willing to answer questions...not even asking if I have any questions. Doing million different tests and procedures and not explaining why..and what she is looking for. I am bothered by the rush and lack of information and constant delays.

Dr Sum appears to be technically excellent. However, when she had to convey to me complications related to my colonoscopy she was terse, rather impatient, and kept stating that the information was contained in the summary packet West Chester GI had given me. This post colonoscopy consult occured minutes after I woke up from anesthesia and was still somewhat groggy. Message to Dr Sum: we are people, we are patients, we are not automobiles coming off an assembly line.

After multiple colonoscopies with Dr. Sum, I will not hesitate to return to her for my next colonoscopy as scheduled. She has been nothing short of excellent in every way possible.

I've struggled with bowel issues for ~20 years. I've been to other gastroenterologists and primary care physicians and all said I had regular old IBS. So when things recently got much much worse, I took a try with yet another doctor, this time Dr. Sum. She looked at my symptoms with fresh eyes, took my condition seriously, and conducted an array of tests. Sure enough, it was not IBS but something more serious and somewhat unusual. If not for Dr. Sum, I'd still be suffering, and other doctors still writing me off as having just your ordinary case of IBS. I'm SO VERY grateful to Dr. Sum for taking the time to listen to my issues in full, for taking them seriously, and for exploring the full range of possibilities with me. And on top of that, she's always friendly, patient, kind, and explains things in full in language I can understand. Oh, and she even calls on weekends in person to talk to you if something is urgent! AMAZING doctor!!! I wish I could give more than 5 stars.

I am shocked at any negative comments I've read about Dr. Sum. I just started seeing her last year and could not be more satisfied. She has been nothing but patient and caring. And as for diagnosis... In the past MANY years, I've been told I have a hiatal hernia with no added information on what this means; so thinking it was not a big deal, I didn't ask for more information either since it seemed to be a non-issue. Dr. Sum is the first doctor to tell me I needed to see a surgeon. As it turned out, this hernia caused my stomach to be >60% ABOVE my diaphragm! AND her concern went above and beyond to include recommending the surgeon and calling him herself! Can't say enough good things about this woman. Just tried to refer my daughter to her; but was sorry to find the office doesn't take her insurance. :-(

She's such a wonderful Dr. And if u don't understand something she makes sure you do before you leave...or have surgery.thank you very much Dr sum
