Dr. Lynn gave me excellent care, was extremely empathetic, including going out of his way to make sure I didn't feel claustrophobic. I appreciate it!

Dr Evan performed root canal... procedure was very painful. Furthermore, I'm still in pain months after procedure was done. I have seen him for several follow up appointments but he has dismissed me and said he sees no problem. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

I am writing to register a formal complaint against Dr. Lynn, who was to perform a root canal on me this afternoon. Upon meeting Dr. Lynn, my dentist Dr. Kevin Smith informed him that I take an abnormally long amount of time to become numb after receiving local anasthesia - anywhere between 40 minutes and 1 hour. Dr. Lynn was dismissive of this information, telling us that all roots behave in the same way, that he has done over 10,000 procedures and he has never had a problem. He then administered 3 shots back to back which caused a severe adrenaline rush and nausea. He claimed this was normal, gave me some juice and reclined the chair so that my head was below my heart. Then he waited ten minutes. He came back in and told me that he was going to isolate the tooth and that if I felt anything, to raise my hand. I did, raised my hand, and was told that it was impossible that I felt pain. I insisted, so he gave me a fourth shot and said he would wait a few more minutes. I… told him it normally takes 45 minutes, no matter how many shots I'm given and he responded by saying "I know you keep saying that, but I've never had anyone take that long and I can't wait for 45 minutes." After that I still wasn't numb, but he didn't believe me. He tried again to isolate the tooth, and when it still hurt and I told him, he did not stop but kept pushing on the area until I yelled for him to stop. He then said, "Your moving around in the chair doesn't work for me." He got very upset and told me that he couldn't wait around for me, that there is no way that I wasn't numb. At that point I asked him if there was some sort of test he could do to prove that I was indeed feeling pain. He said yes and first touched something to a "live" nerve - it hurt and I jumped. He then did the same to the tooth that needed the root canal and I jumped from that as well because of the pain. At this point, he did finally admit that I wasn't numb and said, "You win. We'll wait another 15 minutes," and stormed out of the room. 15 minutes later nothing had changed. He left and I made an appointment with a different endodontist to do the work. Dr Lynn's behavior was disrespectful to me, his patient, and highly unprofessional. He was arrogant in telling me that he knows what I'm feeling better than I do myself, in his refusal to believe that what I was telling him was true, and in his attitude that this procedure was all about him. My entire afternoon was wasted and spent in unnecessary discomfort and pain, all the while being humiliated by someone who is supposed to be a caregiver and a doctor whose first rule is "Do no harm." This complain will be sent to every professional organization of which Dr. Lynn is a member. No patient should have to endure this type of abuse.
