Dr. Evangelina Castaneda, MD

My husband has been a patient for several years. Dr Castaneda is direct, for sure, but diabetes is no joke. She clearly tells you what you have to do to manage it and coaches you every step of the way. She reads and makes notes on your charts BEFORE your visit so she's prepared - what a concept. She is a phone call away and often will have you call her to tell her your numbers. Her diagnosis is spot on. She does not let you make excuses on your diet and exercise habits. We trust her completely.

I wish I had believed the terrible reviews before going to this doctor. Doctors are people and I believe they can have a bad day just like any of us but the difference is when I'm having a bad day, it doesn't affect the health and welfare of another person. Dr. Castaneda should not be practicing medicine. She puts the the public at risk and gives the whole profession an bad name. If you value your life, stay away!

If I could give zero stars, I would. Rude and condescending. Doctor asked me if I was stupid when I asked a question for clarification. Office does everything by hand and does not keep accurate records. I would never return to this office. I am actually surprised that I have not found any pending lawsuits based on her level of carelessness with patient records.

I am alive because of this Endo. She is abrupt and straight forward. Its not always enjoyable, but I am healthy as a result.

Attention to any new patient that is reading these reviews: please choose another provider. I can't even began to describe the humiliation and harassment I received and have filed a greivance claim to get her liscense revoked. With the Plano police department doing their job, this woman will hopefully never be in the medical profession again.

This Lady said ed my life? She is hard, stern a little rude, but fair.

This was the rudest Doctor I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. After one glucose reading she said I needed to be on medication and what I had eaten had no bearing whatsoever on the readings that I would get. I was then treated as if I was a complete idiot and told that my well-being didn't matter at all. And if I knew anything about Diabetes then I would not have let myself become obese in the first place. Saying this to someone with a family history of diabetes, that exercises 6 hours per week, and that eats a healthy diet with barley any sugars/carbohydrates is rude and inconsiderate. She knew nothing about my history and made a pre-judgment without doing any research. Instead of attempting to work together, she flat out said that this wasn't going to work and gave me the name of another endocrinologist. The nonchalance with which she gave me the other endo's contact info tells me this is not the first time that she has done this and is perfectly fine with it. It is her way or… the highway. Your opinion doesn't matter.

Office staff, which consist of 1 person, very inefficient. Slow...on 2 different occasions it took me 10 minutes to pay my co-pay and get out.

If you want to be coddled then go find another doctor. But, if you want to know what is really going on with your body and how you can fix the issues then Dr. Castaneda is the doctor for you! She takes the time to get the whole story (it might take some prying since most people do not openly advertise how terrible their eating habits REALLY are) and she is very knowledgeable in her profession. I appreciate people who do not beat around the bush and just get straight to the point, apparently there are those below who do not, its their loss. If you argue with a doctor you waste what time they can use to truly diagnose you. Let them do their jobs, you go to a specialist for a reason. I would highly recommend Dr. Castaneda to anyone who actually WANTS to get better and make the efforts to do so, not just get fixed with prescription drugs or trying to tell a doctor how to do their job.
