Dr. Evangeline Chu, MD

Dr. Chu is professional and makes you feel comfortable in some of the most vulnerable medical exams available. She is conservative in approach and does not take chances with her patients health. The staff works hard and although is not the warmest and most friendly staff on the planet the are not rude or unhelpful, so I have no idea why the office is not receiving a higher rating.

It is our first baby with Dr.Chu. Dr.Chu is extremely professional, confident and supportive. Her team as well. She gave best advises and care that I and my wife never doubt. It was a hard pregnancy for my wife. She is small and she was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and was admitted in Hoag hospital for a month for short cervix. I am so glad Dr.Chu is with her through this whole pregnancy. Giving support and best care. When in Antepartum stay, she came to our room very often to check my wife and keep us updated, sometimes even early in the morning after overnight work at hospital. She set up milestones for us at the stay which really helped us to calm and make progress. At the delivery time, I confirmed twice with nurse if DR.Chu will be here because she truly is the Dr we trust. She came in very energetically after previous deliveries at late night. Her skill and calm made everything go in right direction. We ended up with a high 8 lb boy with natural birth. I appreciate… everything she had done during this entire pregnancy. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR.CHU! DR.CHU is the best OB your fantastic pregnancy can start with.We will definitely come back to her for our second baby in the future!!

Staff acts like they don't want to be there. Dr. Chu seems like she's checked out. After years of dealing with mediocre feedback and apathetic attitudes of staff I wont return. Find someone more passionate about their job.

Dr. Chu doesn't waste my time. She knows her stuff, she always knows what I need and she doesn't sugarcoat what is best for my health. She is professional, trustworthy and caring. She is not condescending. She treats me with respect, and of all my doctors I've had, I like her the best.

Dr. Chu tells it like it is. She gives me what I truly need, not just what I want. And she lets me know when I'm doing the right thing or not. She's honest, professional and does what's in my long term health. I honestly trust her with my life and I recommend her to anyone and everyone.

Dr Chu is extraordinary. The true measure of a doctor, beyond routine exams, is how they handle your health challenges. She worked with me to determine the pro's and cons of an early hysterectomy. She performed my surgery. All went extremely well. I've been seeing her for over 12 years. Partner with her, as any attentive patient should, and you'll have a terrific professional working with you.

Dr. Chu was the on call ObGyn at Hoag hospital when I was in labor with my first child. When I asked her if I could calmly breath down my baby rather than push without breathing she was very negative and discouraging, she told me I could try but it won't work. She was also extremely rough during the delivery. My epidural had worn off towards the end and it was extremely painful when she was stitching me up, I told her and she didn't seem to care at all and continued to be rough without offering another dose of the pain medication. She was so cold that she didn't even congratulate my husband and I on the baby. I would not recommend her at all.

She is very cold and a bit rude and negative.

Dr. Chu has delivered 3 of my babies. She is highly skilled and knowledgable. She is straight-forward and honest when it comes to advice and what is best for mom and baby. She follows the birthing plan of the mother.
