All this doctor wants to do is give you medication. She’ll start you off on one and then add another. Doesn’t ask a lot of questions. I cancelled my appt and did not call to reschedule. Never did she call to see how I was doing. Doesn’t care!

So, psychiatry is a difficult profession. Dr. Guzman was good in the sense that she immediately told me that she is pretty conservative in the medication she recommend and the dosages she starts with. She'll start you off on the lowest possible dosage, which is good, and then go from there, which is good. Having said all that, she doesn't ask you any questions about your diet, your exercise, and the myriad of other conditions that could contribute to your condition. She only prescribes medication. And while she's conservative in the amounts of medication she prescribed for me, on my second visit she wanted to double my dosage of the first medication (not a big deal to me because she started me off on such a low dosage) but she wanted to give me another medication. Furthermore, her approach is only medical. If you believe that pills only will solve your problems, then maybe she's the right doctor for you. If you believe that a holistic approach is needed, you absolutely should not see… her. Finally, she was polite, but she's fairly strict and gives off the impression that she cares more about getting paid than she does about your care. I called her twice in the second week when I was seeing her (I missed my second appointment, it was my responsibility) and she didn't return either call. She also is unable or unwilling to modulate her approach to your care if you don't agree with her--and I've been around enough doctors to tell the difference between someone truly believing that their approach is best versus someone who just isn't listening to you. She seemed to me to be a fairly poor listener and did not take major factors of my health into account before she started prescribing medication to me. I do not trust her with my care and have stopped seeing her in favor of someone who is going to take an empirical approach to my care--not all doctors are created equal. If you're looking for someone to prescribe you pills and only pills, she would be okay for very minor psychiatric problems such as depression or anxiety. If you are at all concerned about other factors or you're unfortunately suffering from something more than a very minor depression or anxiety, do not see her.

This woman should not even be a doctor. She is not caring as the other review states. She is only interested in her bottom line. If you share anything personal she states you should tell your counselor not her. Many negative stories of this Doctor in the local area. She does not like to file her portion of the insurance and tries to make her patients responsible for that. She will hold your scripts hostage until you give her what she wants... Very unprofessional.

At first Dr. Guzman may be somewhat intimidating. However, given time, you will find her to be very good at her job...she is not just a pill pusher. She watches what, how much and how you react to any medication she might prescribe. I have alot of faith in her as she really wants to help.
