Dr. Evelyn Mary Placek, MD

Dr. Placek is excellent. I have seen her both for a complete dermatological checkup as well as for a minor cosmetic laser treatment. She is extremely thorough, honest, and personable. She does not push any cosmetic treatments and is quite honest about whether or not you would benefit from any particular treatment. I highly recommend her.

Dr Placek is awesome, highly recommend . She is very professional and knowledgeable , explains everything to patient about procedures being done. If your looking for a dermotologist that is through and knowledgeable and has your best interest at heart, she's the one.

I saw at Scarsdale office. Liked Dr. Placek, was very thorough. Hate new location. Very difficult for me to to drive, very busy area. Find it EXTREMELY difficult to make an appt. Must speak to someone in N. Carolina and wait two months for appt.

Typically it is the complainers that post comments so I would like to jump in and provide some balance by agreeing with the "Excellent Clinician" comment in that I have been going to Dr. Placek for a number of years and have always been very happy with the care I have received. Dr. Placek and her staff are very competent and just genuinely nice people to deal with. I am a healthcare practitioner myself and have been working with doctors for over 30 years and have always thought the world of Dr. Placek. It is true that you have to schedule appointments far in advance, but I have never had a problem getting an appointment when I needed it.

I have gone to Dr. Placek for years and feel the other reviews do not represent my experience at all. I have no idea about what the other reviewer means with the comment that Dr. Placek only cares about "the dollar." She has never tried to get me to do anything that required extra costs beyond my copay. She is thoughtful and thorough, and never makes me feel rushed. She had also helped my son with a skin condition that another dermatologist mistreated. Yes, the office is run poorly, and it is generally frustrating when I try to call for an Rx refill, but that is not her fault. Also, when I had an emergency, I was offered an appt that day--I did have to wait over an hour that time, but she was fitting me in, which I appreciated.

The earliest appointment I could get to have some moles examined, was 5 weeks in advance. Upon arrival I wasn't informed that there was a significant wait time but I did overhear two other patients complaining and one rescheduled and walked out. After 45 minutes of waiting, I asked how long it would be until my turn and was told that there was one patient already in the with doctor and then one more person after them before me. With an average appointment time of 30 mins, that would mean a total waiting time for me of nearly 1 hour 30! Having only put 90 mins of money in the meter for my car and having only arranged babysitting for 2 hours - I had to leave without ever having seen the doctor. The customer service was appalling and the practice very poorly managed. I can't comment on the patient care as I never even got that far and definitely won't be going back.
