All around GREAT doctor. I thank God for him.

I have been going to Dr. Ribakove for 5 years now and I think he is excellant. He can be a little gruff at times, but I don't consider that a problem if he gets all the medical stuff right.

I was a patient of his for three years, the good: he does not give up. He is good at diagnosing and aggresively treating cancers and other blood illnesses. The bad: he was a research scientist and has a lot to learn about bedside manner and even argued with other doctors he brought in for consults and does not tolorate patients questioning anything. He was written up by a local hospital for not telling another doctor his patient had a staff infection when he did a heart cath, told a patient all her doctor's hated her, and argued with staff and another doctor in the halls of the hospital. The hospital admin told him to meet with the patient and staff and make peace, but he never did. Her other doctors did not have problems with her end were upset that he said such a thing, since most of them had never even met him. He also ordered TONS of unnesseary tests. but I have a relative who goes to him and loves him, but then she is rich and she never questions anything. he also insisted that… a patient have their port removed, when the infectios disease doctor he called in for consult, said they didn't need to. He told the patient he woould discharge them if they didn't agree to have the port removed immediately. This would have resulted in an unsafe discharge, can we say malpractice? And later we discovered that the surgeon he uses to put in and take out ports,...is the husband of his office manager! Can we say unethical? He also insists that all treatments be made in his office, because he gets to keep the profits, even if you have to go back and forth to the hospital. so, use him if your doctor is unable to diagnose you or is not aggresively treating your disease, just go in with open eyes and good insurance. You can put up with anyone for a short period if your life depends on it.
