Dr. Ezra David Cohen, MD

I established care with Dr Ezra Cohen based on all the positive reviews and was pleased to have found in my opinion, the best Neurologist. I was scheduled to have a telehealth appointment this morning. During my commute to work, I received a call from a girl named Sharma asking for my copayment balance to be paid before my appointment. Considering the various circumstances in my life, I apologize that I was not aware. However, I will make the payment through the portal. When I asked her if I could still be seen, she responded that payment must be made before the appointment. In my opinion, this did not answer my question. When I asked to speak with the billing department, I was informed that they weren't yet open. As I work in the medical field and have patients to see, I received calls but couldn't take them. Immediately prior to my appointment, I receive a call from the same person, Sharma, informing me that Dr Cohen had canceled my appointment if no payment had been received. When I… asked to speak with Dr Cohen, the girl Sharma responded that he will not speak with me. It was at this point that I stated my position that I would not engage in back and forth discussion with Sharma. She replied, "Oki Doki.". To me, that was an unprofessional response. Sharma replies that I have been aggressive? If there is a recording of the call, I would suggest you listen to it. I should point out that every time I have been to the physicians' office, I have asked if i can pay my copay and they have always said we will bill you. I know how bad I am at remembering to send my bills. With all of my health issues, I would never have expected such treatment to be given to me in the event that I failed to pay my copayment. Additionally, I received a call from the billing department relaying the same message, but of course coworkers cover each other's bases. As much as it makes me sad, I will be leaving this practice.

Avoid at all costs, impossible to reach for weeks on end even during emergency situations

Dr Cohen spent more than 45 minutes with me carefully listening and asking questions to understand my issues. Unlike my previous neurologist who said there was nothing she could do, Dr Cohen seemed very engaged with the task of figuring out the cause behind my issues. He appears committed to helping me better my health and improve my overall quality of life. He is intelligent and very thorough.

Just like most medical options near George Washington medical center, patients are treated as revenue boosters. This practice offered me no answers but ran all the tests. $$$ Major disappointment.

Does not listen, has preconceived notions, dismissive, judgmental, talks down to patients and schedules appointments way too far apart, 3-4 months.

The wait times during your appointment is bad, but your follow-up appointment can be as long as 3 months. That is very risky because so many neurological deficits can be missed by Dr. Cohen. He also needs to be more flexible about his Sleep Study, not every neurological event is tied to sleep apnea, he is so focused on signing everybody up for this he misses key symptoms. Dr. Cohen abilities as a diagnostician is a bit over-rated. Would not recommend to family or to friends simply due to long wait times to get an initial consult and for follow-up visits.

Definitely the best doctor I have ever had. Finding a doctor this wonderful is so hard to come by these days. He's amazing and I wouldn't be alive today if it weren't for him. He's so intelligent and caring. He is thorough and patient and actually listens!

Dr. Cohen is a wonderful doctor. He takes as much time needed to listen to you, I have never once felt rushed by him, he actually CARES about how you're doing. He's extremely thorough and isn't afraid to order tests. He's excellent about calling you back if you leave him a message. He's also really good at communicating with your other doctors. If you give him a name of another doctor you are seeing he will automatically send them a note on the type of care he is giving you. I love it when my doctors communicate with each other. It makes your care so much better and more efficient. I sometimes have to wait a little bit of time for him because he tends to run over but that's only because he's a good doctor and takes time with his patients to listen. I don't mind waiting for a good doctor. My only complaint about his office is his reception staff. I actually dread calling because they are so rude. The desk staff can be quite rude too which is such a shame because he really deserves… better people to be working for him. He's a wonderful doctor, very kind, personable, and intelligent. Don't let the rude people on the phone discourage you. You won't be disappointed by seeing Dr. Cohen.
