Dr. Farhana Quasem, MD

I’ve never been more mistreated in my life especially being in the Indian community where people are usually ethical and kind, this really damaged my views how this culture chooses to treat US. I came in as a new patient after being in the Emergency room for what seemed to be a heart attack and high Blood pressure. As you can imagine, it’s a difficult time and when people experience these kinds of crisis we need health care providers with empathy, respect, and a listening ear. What I received from FARHANA QUASEM was antagonistic, brutal, unnecessary, and heartless. When she came in she never introduced herself nor looked me in the face. She grabbed her clipboard and started with questions. 1. What’s your name.. I answered 2. I says here you were in the hospital for a heart attack and high blood pressure.. I answered yes I’ve been a bit more stressed lately. It’s the time of the year that I’ve experienced a lot of loss 3. What kind of work do you do.. I’m in sales 4. Where do… you work.. I answered.. I’m independent Her: but where do you work???? Me: Can we just skip that. 5. Are you stressed at work? I answered.. no, it’s the losses that has me stressed 6. Are you worried about money.. I answered No it’s the losses that stresses me 7. Anyone in your family has high blood pressure? I answered, I’m not sure.. she replied.. YOU DONT KNOW WHO YOUR MOTHER & FATHER IS?? I was appalled but did not reply 8. It sounds like you may be having problems at work and need something to help you (referring to pills) I answered ma’am I told you that it’s grief which is normal.. I lost a lot of people and I’m still dealing with it. HER RESPONSE: “ WHO DIED” ME: I DONT WANT TO GET INTO DETAIL ITS A BIT MUCH FOR ME HER: I NEED TO KNOW WHO DIED ME: WHY DOES THAT MATTER HER: I NEED TO KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THOSE PEOPLE WERE IN YOUR LIFE ME: IF IT WAS MY DOG IT MEANT A-LOT TO ME.. THIS ISN'T INFORMATION THAT WILL HELP YOU WITH MY HEALTH. ITS GRIEF THATS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW HER: I DONT LIKE YOUR ATTITUDE, YOU'VE HAD ONE SINCE I WALKED IN. I DONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH UOU ME: MA’AM YOURE NOT MY Psychiatrist or psychologist. She then jumped up, flung the door open and ran yelling “I’m not dealing with this” Office manager came and scheduled me with another doctor only to email me the next day to say they are refusing to see me.. with no concern as to my true health which was my heart and blood pressure.. She rather let me die than to be kind and respectful.

I have been going to Dr. Quasim for 3 years and I really like her bedside manner and the fact that she takes time out to explain things to me.

Not only does she spend the time to talk with me, but she is easy to talk to and understands my concerns.She is a wonderful doctor. When Kaiser would no longer be accepted there, I changed my insurance plan to Blue Cross just so that I could keep seeing her.
