I have a chipped tooth from 20+ years ago that I never had an issue with but Dr. Dariush HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to do an onlay on. I have inquired specifically regarding the possible negative effects of getting one, and Dr. Dariush said it has almost none negative effects. Possible complication was not mentioned to me. Fast forward two months, the treated tooth is experiencing severe sensitivity and pain. Came to find out the nerve inside is highly inflamed. And the only option left is to do a root canal, which costed an extra $850+ that I had no option but to pay. So after a total cost of $1300+ (onlay + root canal), my tooth is somewhat back to usable now but I am now stuck with this irreversible change and future crown maintenance. I think her recommendations for treatment is not conversative enough given the size of the chip and the proximity to the nerves. She also did not provide the patient knowledge with all possible outcomes regarding the treatment. Unfortunately the patient is… the one stuck with the pain, expensive costs, extra time and energy spent dealing with a irresponsible and inexperienced doctor.
