Farrah Liu, MD

Farrah Liu, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Attending Surgeon at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.Dr. Liu began her medical education in the accelerated seven-year combined BS/MD program between The College of New Jersey and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She subsequently completed a six-year plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at Stanford University, followed by advanced fellowship training in microsurgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.Her clinical expertise includes breast reconstruction, head and neck reconstruction, complex oncologic reconstruction, microsurgery, and lymphedema surgery. She performs implant-based and autologous breast reconstruction, microvascular free-tissue transfer, and reconstruction of complex defects involving the head and neck, trunk, and extremities. Her lymphatic surgery practice includes lymphovenous bypass …(LVB), vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNT), immediate lymphatic reconstruction (ILR), and microsurgical treatment of head and neck lymphedema.Dr. Liu also provides cosmetic procedures for the face, breasts, and body, including Botox, dermal fillers, facial rejuvenation, aesthetic breast surgery, body contouring, abdominoplasty, and liposuction.Her research focuses on microsurgical and lymphatic reconstruction, surgical outcomes, translational biomarkers, and recovery following cancer treatment. Her work has included lymphatic surgery and imaging, cytokine and biomarker profiling, and multidisciplinary approaches to complex oncologic reconstruction. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has participated in collaborative clinical and translational research programs.At Weill Cornell Medicine, Dr. Liu is working to expand access to comprehensive lymphedema care and advanced reconstruction for patients affected by breast cancer, head and neck cancer, and other malignancies. Her academic interests center on improving reconstructive outcomes, reducing the long-term effects of cancer treatment, and advancing innovative microsurgical and lymphatic techniques.
