Dr. Felix Kleyman, MD

Any 5 star review or exceptionally positive comments on this site and others are in my opinion very suspicious and likely fake; probably solicited from Dr. Kleyman to people he does not treat. My experience is exactly in-line with the real reviews which are undoubtedly negative. I have also spoken to others in-person while waiting to be seen (pre-pandemic) and have a similar pattern of poor quality of care by Dr. Kleyman. Any profile that has an abundance of gleaming comments on a psychiatrist around the same time period especially, should raise red flags—a common theme runs through the negative ones. This man is passive aggressive, uses the appointment time to look up and review your history then proceeds to rush the visit and complain that he has others to treat. He talks over you and is condescending when you may have anything to add or ask that differs from his direction. Not only is the bedside manner atrocious but his clinical judgment is dangerous. For chronic sleep problems,… he brushed this aside and told me to continuously take a benzodiazepine. After expressing concern that this class is highly addictive and not to be used longterm, he became exceptionally hostile and raised his voice. I urge you to do your homework and find patients who have developed a long term relationship with this physician to understand his approach. It will most likely be one that is only to attain drugs quickly and without care.

I see some of the negative comments posted and I am surprised, not at all what I experienced. Dr. Kleyman has always been concerned, compassionate, and insightful. He got me through a few very tough crisis in my life. You know the types when life throws a curveball you didn't expect or see coming.

Dr. Kleyman does not actually listen to his patients. He sits there and occasionally writes notes, which is the only way he remembers anything personal about his patients. He offers no insights and dismisses major issues. He consistently talks over his patients, not allowing them to fully explain themselves (or even get a sentence in). After over a year of seeing him, I twice voiced my upset that he did not seem to care that I am struggling to take basic care of myself at home, or that I was still consistently self-harming: instead of inquiring about either one of my concerns, he ignored them and told me that "it was selfish" of me to say that. I first sat there and then left his office sobbing that day, which was of no concern to him whatsoever. When I quoted what he had said to me during our next session, he denied having said it, claimed he never uses language like that, and then proceeded to say he didn't recall the conversation. He then spent the remainder of what was our… final session, blaming our struggling therapeutic relationship on me because I disagreed with his opinion of me, saying I just wanted a doctor who would put me on disability. Nope; what I want is TO GET BETTER. He had a very unprofessional, childish reaction to my one criticism of his behavior towards me, responding with name-calling and finger-pointing. If you are only interested in medication, this is the doctor for you. Otherwise, I suggest searching elsewhere.

I have seen many doctors in my life time. I happen to work in a hospital setting myself with many physicians. This doctor is the worst very rude does not let you speak and very quick to push pills at you without the opinion of the patient. In this line of work you have to be patient and have consideration for the people that are suffering with anxiety and depression. Hes a horrible doctor. No one should go to him. Heartless Animal. I'm not looking for sympathy either.

I have seen a LOT of doctors in my life, but never one so RUDE, uninterested in what you have to say, and prying as he. I am not the typical patient, I have a very complicated history, and Felix Kleyman just read me like he read the DSMV textbook and very improperly at that. Multiple times he cut me off, didn't give a hoot about what I said I was experiencing and then proceeded to ask me to LEAVE his office while I was in the middle of telling him something quite personal. Having a history of PTSD which I told him, he should not have been so inconsiderate. He was eager to prescribe me some medications I explained I had a terrible reaction to, which was very irresponsible of him. Personally, I think doctors coming from foreign countries to prescribe medications to New Yorkers should have a much clearer understanding of what it means to be struggling. How dare this imbecile come from Russia and tell me how the heck to live my life!? Downright humiliating. I am extremely… disappointed and would not recommend anyone who cares about their own well-being to see such a vile creature.

This guy was the worst Dr. I've ever experienced. Doesn't care what you've got to say. Hardly returns phone calls. Gets defensive... It's his way or the highway.

Dr. Kleyman is a true Renaissance man. He is perceptive, brings interesting perspectives into the conversation, is positive, and really seems to care about bringing out the best in his patients.

I saw Dr. Kleyman for about 2 yrs. He doesn't molly coddle or try to be your friend or tell you are great. He is just present. He gives support and helps you see yourself more clearly. He has perfect timing in his insights, making observations when he feels you are ready to hear them, which I found to be hugely helpful. Therapy can be a long process. It isn't a quick fix and it's not easy. It is a journey and a relationship of trust. Even though you never really know your therapist, I can say what I do know is Dr. Kleyman is genuinely caring, professional and completely trustworthy. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs help in their lives.

I find Dr.Kleyman to be a very dedicated physician whose main goal is to help his patient to feel better about life.
