Dr. Filza Khan, LMFT

My name is Filza Khan, and I'm a Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) in the State of Texas. I graduated from Texas Wesleyan University in 2016, and have since worked with clients of all ages and backgrounds in private practice, inpatient hospitals, and partial hospitalization settings. The past 7 years of my combined graduate education and work experience has taught me that no individual functions in a bubble. Every day we are affected by our interactions and relationships with the people in our lives (for better or for worse) and vice versa! So it makes sense that when someone is struggling with clinical levels of distress in their life, their closest and most intimate relationships are affected as well. My job is to help …individuals and families learn to navigate change, develop more effective communication skills, develop a more effective way of dealing with the current problem, and enhance coping skills and strategies.I mainly use Narrative Family Therapy in my work with clients, along with CBT, Mindfulness, and Solution-Focused techniques. I work with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, life transitions, mood swings, behavioral issues, anger management, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, and more.
