Dr. Flint Robert Taitano Walker, DO

Dr Walker takes great care of me and my family. Myself, my wife and my disabled son all see Dr Walker and we are very happy with his care. He has excellent bedside manner and goes above and beyond to make sure we are well taken care of. Highly recommend.

My experience with Dr. Walker was very negative. I went to see him at his new location in Laurel Maryland. My fasting lab numbers are in the pre-diabetes range and I am dealing with debilitating fatigue, especially after meals. Dr. Walker declared that my numbers are "perfectly fine" and that my fatigue is not related to my glucose. When I asked about the post-meal symptoms, he said he didn't know what why I had them. He suggested my fatigue was due to an underlying depression and offered to treat it with Lexapro. After this unfortunate encounter, I did some reading on the internet and later went to see an endocrinologist. The post-meal fatigue is due to postprandial hyperglycemia, not depression. I was put on medication (metformin), given prescriptions for glucometer supplies, and advised to follow up with a dietitian. I am starting to feel better. After my internet reading I wrote to Dr. Walker to explain to him that I found the answer to the question of post-meal fatigue; he became… defensive and I believe untruthful in his explanations of how he handled my glucose issues. For example, he never advised me to monitor my post - meal blood sugar using a glucometer, but he claimed he did. In response to my challenging his knowledge and truthfulness, Dr. Walker complained to the practice administration and I received a patient dismissal letter! I would not recommend the practice, Laurel Internal Medicine, or Dr. Walker to anyone, especially to those with diabetes. In my opinion at a minimum Dr. Walker needs continuing education in the area of diabetes and a fair dose of attitude adjustment.

Dr. Walker is a wonderful doctor. He genuinely cares about his patients and takes the time to really listen to their concerns. I will surely miss him.
