Dr. Floyd Gilbert Shon, MD

I was referred to Dr. Shon in 2001 by one of Orange County’s top knee surgeons, and I’ve been seeing him ever since. As a long time motorcycle racer, I have sustained multiple injuries that required surgery. Because of Dr. Shon’s thorough explanations of any orthopedic issue, I began seeing him first no matter what the issue. If it’s not his specialty he will refer you to someone else, but you’ll leave with a thorough understanding of what your options are. And the surgeries he has performed have been excellent (rotator repairs in both shoulders, and tendon repairs in mine and my son’s thumbs).

Dr. Shon is the best! He is very intelligent and knowledgeable. Most of all he is very compassionate and kind. He tells you all of the possibilities for treatment, as well as sharing his medical information with you. I trust his opinion without reservation.

Dr Shon was great. He took his time with me. He was very patient and thorough. I've seen other doctors before and he was by far the best. I'm glad I found him. He was super nice and helpful.

The Dr was pleasant enough, although in hindsight, the appointment conversation did not match the office notes. What was most difficult was the wait time. Usually 1.5-2 hours!

Rudest Doctor ever...Doesn't let you talk, mean, not gentle,

I was extremely impressed with Dr. Shon. I had an injury to my right arm and hesitated seeing a doctor for about month. I was worried that I waited too long. Dr. Shon was great, he was patient and very thorough. He put my mind at ease and was there for me during the entire course of my care. I am fully recovered and back doing everything thanks to him. If there was ever another injury next time I wouldn't ever hesitate go see him.

Doctor was excellent. He was patient and made sure I understood my treatment options. Additionally, he was very reassuring and was great about addressing all my concerns. I realized maybe after my third visit that he was absolutely right about everything as it turned out. Above all else, my progress has been great and he has always been there for me. I really owe Dr. Shon a huge debt of gratitude.

If you want an accomplished surgeon, Dr Shon is your Doctor. My son fractured his upper humerus snowboarding and lost the use of his left hand due to nerve damage. When I say lost his use... when prodded with electrical stimulus there was zero hand movement. Under Dr Shon's surgical care, which included 5 hours of surgery, 8 screws, 2 metal plates, nerve exploration and hours of follow up care. My son now has full use of his hand. While the Doc's bedside manner is lacking, his surgical abilities are the best.

Dr. Shon did Carpel Tunnel release on both of my hands about a month apart. Both surgerys went great, absolutely amazing results. I had no pain in my hands after surgery and the numbness and tingling was gone when I woke up from surgery. It took about a month to fully recover and get the strength and flexibility back. I have suffered for years and I am amazed at the results and wish I would have done it sooner. Dr Shon can be very detailed and long with his descriptions and explanations, a little patience is worth the great results that he provided.
