Summary
Frances Hamman, D.D.S., M.S.D. -Orthodontist
Dr. Hamman earned her orthodontic degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and has been a practicing orthodontist since 1993. Prior to that she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (1991) and a B.S. in Biology (1987) at Creighton University. Dr. Hamman's father was also an orthodontist and throughout high school, college and dental school she worked as an orthodontic or dental assistant. Her total combined experience in the dental field is almost 30 years. She has also had the honor and pleasure of taking care of patients in the U.S. Navy when she served active duty from 1997-2003. Here duty stations included the United States Naval Academy, the Naval Hospital in Great Lakes, Michigan, and Yokosuka, Japan. Throughout Dr. Hamman's career she has had the opportunity to treat patients of every age with every possible type of orthodontic need, leaving her with a broad range of experience. In fact, her experience and …skill was recently recognized when Dr. Hamman was added to the "Guide to America's Top Dentist."
Orthodontics, to Dr. Hamman, is not just about creating a beautiful smile. It is also important to establish a well-working or "functional" occlusion where all of the teeth match or "fit", properly. The objective of orthodontics is not just straight teeth. It is also a well proportioned face and proper occlusion. Dr. Hamman evaluates each patient clinically and takes records that are used with advanced software designed to evaluate all aspects of a patient's teeth and facial skeletal structure. When necessary, she also works closely with other dental professionals and surgeons to address a patient's comprehensive dental needs.
Dr. Hamman regularly engages in continuing education classes in order to provide each and every one of her patients with the most up to date techniques in orthodontic technology and treatment.
On a personal note, Dr. Hamman enjoys balancing life and work by traveling, learning new languages and absorbing other cultures. She is a beginner sailor and golfer and enjoys pilates. Also a pianist, in 1981, Fran and her sister were finalists in the Cleveland Orchestra Concerto Competition at Severance hall. They played a double concerto by Mozart K365. Her favorite composers are Chopin, Schubert, Rachmaninoff and Debussy.
