Frances M. Stern, MD

Dr. Stern has been my doctor for over 30 years. She has always been a great listener, and a wonderful provider. She has guided me through many issues, and I completely respect her guidance and judgment. She's a professional who is compassionate and caring.

I have been a patient of Dr Stern for almost 40 years. She has delivered all my children and delivered 2 of my grandchildren. She is very thorough with her exams, is receptive of my concerns. I have had nothing but great experiences every time I come for my visit. I also love the fact that she is so into what she does and hopefully will continue to do so as long as possible.

I have been going to Dr. Stern for many years, when she had a practice with Dr. Wallace in Manhasset, NY. I have been to two other Ob/Gyn's in the last 10 years. One doctor was just a month ago. I have to say, that Dr. Frances Stern's physical exam is more thorough than the other two doctors. Also, the other two doctors never did a fecal occult test. She stated her observations about my vaginal health, that the doctor I saw last month did not mention to me. I am a post menopausal woman. I know that everyone has different life experiences with people: professionally, socially & familial. How we interact or feel about these interactions vary from person to person. My experiences with Dr. Frances Stern have been positive. I did not know Dr. Stern, when I had my children.

I’ve known dr stern since I was a kid. She delivered me. So I always had high hopes for her. It may be time for her to retire. Her bedside manor is poor now. She is also getting sloppy with her work. Processed bloodwork of mine without me knowing for a genetics panel. My husband and I were surprised with a 10k bill. Luckily we didn’t have to pay it Bc my consent wasn’t on the test but now I live with this fear of genetic knowledge that I’d don’t want to know. When my husband and I conceived our first child she didn’t even congratulate us. Was dissapointed and asked why we didn’t chose ivf and have all healthy girls. I went home and balled my eyes out. She caused a lot of stress with me for my first pregnancy and I ended up having a miscarriage. I blame her for a lot of the stress. She took the fun out of being pregnant for me and replaced that with the fear of god. So disappointed. Left and never went back. Wrote an email and never received a response. Truly believe she’s lining her… pockets before retiring.

Long Island is so fortunate to have a gynecologist as fine as Dr. Stern. She is indeed the best, ever! Caring, experienced, professional & brilliant!

Please do not use this doctor. Her staff is rude. I felt uncomfortable, her staff overheard me talking to my friend about it. As a result, her staff began being very rude to me. In my 7th month, her nurse began arguing with me. Dr. Stern told me to find another doctor. I am so upset. Dr. Stern did not care. I got another OBGYN, within my second visit the new Doctor picked up that something was wrong. When they delivered me, my son had 3 knots in the cord and it was wrapped around his neck 3 times. My son made it. Thank God to my new doctor. It was just disheartening that Dr. Stern never pick up on it. DO NOT use her. In research I saw she had a malpractice suit, beware! Please!

I was pregnant with my second child and Dr. Stern did not pick up on the fact that there were 3 knots in the cord and it was wrapped around his neck 3 times. I always felt something was wrong. I was going through my own stress at home /life. I had a lost of my self confidence because of everything. I did not truly trust myself. In the end, I believe Dr. Stern's staff overheard me talking about my worries and she through it back in my face. Her nurse beginning calling me crazy and Dr. Stern did nothing about it. She asked me to find another doctor in my third trimester. I was upset because I did not think I would find another doctor. Dr. Stern did not care. I found another doctor who discovered everything. It was a blessing that this happen because if Dr. Stern did not care about me she would not care about my baby. I learned many lessons. Trust you instincts, doctor office walls are thin-never talk about your feelings-especially with an in courteous… staff. In the end my son is fine. I just want everyone to know do not trust this doctor.

I'm so laughing at the Anonymous writer and her comments. I have to say that I've known Dr. Stern since 1978 and her practice of making people wait and wait and wait has never changed. It's been like that for over 30 years. Unfortunately, you can't teach an old dog new tricks. She will ALWAYS have people wait.....it's what doctors do. Unfortunately, you have to alot an enormous amount of time for one of her visits....perhaps the whole day? LOL Dr. Stern is a fabulous gyno and her reputation exceeds her. I was recommended to her back in 1978 for her wonderful work and although she comes across as a little snobbish....that's not what she intends to be...it's just her demeanor and she means no harm at all. You get the best OB/GYN with her and i wouldn't give it up for anything. I will wait and I will be prepared to do so each and visit. Her staff, on the other hand, needs a smack in the head. The receptionist has GOT TO GO! She is socially inept and needs to be told as much. … Get a new receptionist and all is going to great! I hope Dr. Stern reads this and listens to us all about the little twit at the front desk. She is the only problem with the practice. Otherwise, Dr. Stern is extremely knowledgeable. BTW, just because a doctor has or had a medical practice suit against them does not mean that they did somethign wrong. Most of medical malpractice cases are meritless and force doctors to settle the case monetarily rather than being scruitinized in a court of law. It could be more costly to try to litigate rather than settlle. So, let's be reasonable about this people.

I have to agree with the last review. Same experience. Waited more then an hour and doctor was in such a rush. My visit lasted less then 10 mins. The purpose of my visit wasn't taken care of or acknowledged. Left very disappointed!
