Dr. Francine Mccain, MD

DO NOT RECOMMEND! Dr Fran gave me a botched hysterectomy. Cutting my bladder open causing my stomach to stop working. The worst bedside manners, she acted like it was not a big deal what she had done to me. Another Dr. saved my life. If the other Dr. hadn't of been at the hospital the day of my hysterectomy, they would have had to life flight me to Dallas. I spent weeks in the hospital. While my family waited in the waiting room, they found out from another person waiting that complications were happening with me in my surgery! My family wasn’t even told, and had to demand to see a Dr. to find out there had been complications with my surgery. I went home with a catheter bag. What was suppose to be a simple hysterectomy turned into my worst nightmare. Dr Fran wanted to send me home even though I was still very ill with a tube in my nose because my stomach stopped working. A nurse had to tell her I was very ill, not to send me home. I never had a C section with either one of my 2 births.… My stomach had to be cut open as a result of her botched hysterectomy. I had a stent going from my bladder to my kidneys. I have since had kidney issues because of her cutting my bladder open. I was sent home with a catheter and a bag. Lost my job as a result also because I had to be off work for months. I can’t believe Athens is letting her still practice medicine. I saw Dr Fran at a charity event, and nicely reminded her of what she had done to me. She didn’t even say anything, no sorry, no nothing. She literally just walked away, just like she did when I was in the hospital. She literally made my husband cry she was so rude while I was in the hospital. The worst bedside manners of any Dr. I have ever experienced. This was not my 1st surgery and I also worked in the Medical Field. I have never, and still haven’t come across a Dr. that is as arrogant as Dr. Fran. Since that surgery, I tried to give reviews but she has had them taken off. I really pray she never hurts another soul! DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I do not recommend. I was a first time patient with questions. I had brought my folder with previous testing (they told me to bring these documents). Dr Mc Cain spent no more than 10 minutes in the room with me, she had no interest in my history nor my questions and even told me she did not have time to discuss them with me. Even when I asked a simple questions she said, "Again, you're trying to get me to answer your question that I don't have time to answer." Very unprofessional and not caring at all. That's all.

Dr. Fran was awesome, quick, thorough, took her time to ask questions and answered my questions.

Dr. McCain always addresses my needs without minimizing them. Her office staff are great too.

She was ok...i can't say she was terrible..she acted like she was listening while i was talking about what issues i had going on while i was pregnant and seemed very knowledgable..except for she was quick and to the point and out of the room not making me feel like she really cared...my 2 issues were first of all she wasn't available to deliver my son when my water broke..she was on vacation..no big deal..second of all she never recommend the vacation for the whooping cough at any given time during our visits..i along with my nearly 1month old ended up at the NICU in childrens hospital for this whooping cough disease that he nearly lost his life over..i just hope she reads this and knows it's very important to recommend this weather or not any one wants it..because it is recommend by the cdc to have while 7months pregnant to help prevent the devastating effects on a freshly born child..I'll never forget what we went through and i fear for anyone who ever has too it is heart breaking ??

Dr. McCain was awful with me! I was pregnant and had a missed miscarriage. I have O- blood type, and I was NEVER informed of the risks of pregnancy by Dr mcCain with that blood type, which is why I miscarried. She didn’t even schedule me to get the Rhogam shot until after I miscarried, although they informed me of my blood type a week before. Once I miss miscarried they scheduled my D&C surgery and I was SUPPOSED to get the Rhogam shot when I went in for surgery. I come out of surgery thinking they gave me the shot while I was under anesthesia. Two days later, I’m at home and I get sick, run a fever over 101 degrees, have severe chills and shaking violently and have a headache that lasts 5 days. I call the doctors office and talk to the nurse and she says if it gets worse that I should go to ER. The nurse thought it might be related to blood loss or drop in hormone level. I let the fever run it’s course and deal with pain. 5 days later, Dr McCain calls me and informs me that she FORGOT… TO ORDER Rhogam shot, so I never got it. Since the babies blood type was different than mine, and I NEVER RECEIVED THE SHOT, my body went into shock because of Dr. McCains negligence. So, a week after my surgery, I had to go back to the hospital to the OB unit and sit in a room just like the one I would have gotten if my baby grew to term and get the Rhogam shot so I don’t miscarry again bc of my blood type. Needless to say, it was a traumatic experience all because of Dr McCains negligence and malpractice.

I NEVER write negative reviews like this. But I need to let people know how bad of an experience we had with Dr. Francine McCain. My 22 year old daughter (who has never been sexually active) wanted to get checked out because of her heavy and painful menstration. She is a very strong young woman with a high tollerence for pain, but was still very nervous about this appt as she has always been very modest as well. I went with her to this appt. From the get go, Dr. McCain seemed to be in a kind of rush, and didn't seem to really "listen" to our concerns. That was bad enough. But what was HORRIBLE was the way she physically handled my daughter. We made very clear that she was a virgin and very modest and nervous. She apparently ignored this. She used a REGULAR sized scope to do an exam on my daughter! She basically was very rough and insensitive, telling my daughter, "just relax". She then basically shoved the thing in! My daughter was in so much pain that she was shaking and almost passed… out afterwards. It was also VERY obvious that she was in this pain, but Dr. McCain IGNORED it! And just kept going and when she was done, quickly finished up and left the room. I felt Horrible for my daughter and I felt bad that I didn't jump in and knock the doctor out to stop her from hurting my daughter so bad. Now I know that some people are more sensitive than others. And some may say that my daughter was just sore because she was a virgin. I understand that. We both do. So we expected some discomfort, but this was INEXCUSABLE. This happened almost a year ago. It has taken this long to help my daughter thru the trauma of the experience to get her to go see a different doctor for some help. (since there was NO way we were going back to Dr. McCain). We just took her to another obgyn yesterday at a different facility. And let's just say, Hallelujah! This doctor was gentle, she listened, was caring, and did NOT HURT her! Yes, the experience was "uncomfortable" physically, but NO pain! Now THAT is the way a doctor who specializes in WOMEN'S care should handle her patients! At this point, and comparing the two doctors, I don't know how Dr. McCain is licensed or could have return patients. PLEASE, Dr. McCain, if you are reading this, learn some bedside manners, and learn to be gentle with your patients. What you do for a living can destroy a person when done wrong. To those looking for a good obgyn, make sure the doctor LISTENS to you and doesn't act like she's just wanting to push you thru the door. Like I said, I do NOT like writing these kind of reviews. But this time I had to. :(

I used her as a first obgyn ever. She was wonderful, nice, kind , and caring! I felt so at ease. I am a bigger girl and had been with friends who have had TERRIBLE experiences with their Obgyn's. Dr. Fran is AMAZING.

Can not get a call back from office,, dose not respond to pharmacy request in a timely manner IE 7 to 14 day if they get a response at all. No call back on messages left or voice mails

Be prepared to be there waiting for a long time.
