Dr. Francis A Farraye, MD

Dr Farraye is THE best GI doctor. If you have GI issues he is the doctor for you. I've never had an issue getting an emergency appointment, making followups are easy and wait time is minimal.

This man literally saved my life. After toiling with a local GI who had misdiagnosed me and had me hopped up on corticosteroids to control what was thought to be Ulcerative Colitis, Dr. Frank Farraye took over and told me that I had full blown Crohn's disease. He got me on an immediate regime of new treatment and literally saved my life. Without his intervention, I would not be a functioning member of society. Coupled with his former NP, Andy, these two put me on the healthy track that I am on today. Sadly Andy left BMC for a job closer to home, but Dr. Farraye remains a steadfast partner in my fight against my disease. If you have a digestive disorder, this is the man who you want to speak to. His knowledge and diagnostic skill will pull you up from the gutter and his cutting edge research will find a permanent cure for this awful disease. I consult with him about everything before I even talk to my PCP, and he is readily available day or night during my darker times when I ended up… in the ER at Boston Medical Center. i had a fairly severe case of ulcerative colitis before moving to boston. within 3 months of seeing dr. farraye, he took me off the steroids i'd been on and put me on a much less harmful medication. my symptoms went away and i have been in remission since then. dr. farraye may very well have saved or considerably lengthened my life. despite the fact that he is incredibly busy, he always took as much time as needed when seeing me and always promptly responded to e-mails.

I have only been seeing Dr. Farraye for about 9 months, I have faith in skills, the only thing I do not like is that he is a teaching doctor at a teaching hospital and most of the time you see a fellow first who then reports to Dr. Farraye, and then Dr. Farraye will see you in his office. It is hard to form a relationship with him. He has you email him if you have questions or sometimes he gives you his direct office telephone number to return his phone calls. That I like a lot. He has helped me since my resection. My surgeon recommended him to me, and I'm glad I finally switched my GI doctor. I feel I am getting good care. Girls at the front desk could be a little more friendly. But it's the doctor that really counts.
