Dr. F Michael Shaw, MD

Dr Shaw is a very compassionate and caring Dr. His knowledge and diligence is incomparable.

I saw Dr. Shaw for most of my young adult life. He always answered my questions and always called me back. I had the questions answered that needed to be answered about my birth control which was not always easy. And I am very glad I knew him. I now see another great Dr. which I like as well but will always remember Dr. Shaw.

Professional, confident and personable

I have had and still have many doctors due to some of my health issues and because if this I have dealt with many doctors, good and bad. Dr. Shaw is one of the GREAT ones. My experience with him has been great. He is clear, takes his time, follows up, and Is very knowledgeable. I able to talk to him with ease without beig cut off or spoken down to. Each time I have called with a question he calls me promptly (considering how busy drs are) and helps me out. I would highly recommend him, he's on the ball.

First I am a registered nurse with 15 years of experience. Dr. Shaw is the best! I had two deliveries with him and both were vaginal. The nurses although sweet enough for the most part don't perform urine test properly and my blood pressure everytime is 120/70. Lets talk about the pathetic excuse for "staff" at MKMG. First, an LPN is the "head nurse" of the OB department... enough said. I asked the rude loaf of a woman for an appt after 3pm in the afternoon, she looked at me (with a cookie crumb hanging from her lip) and said there were NO appts after 3. I politely said thank you and called the next day for my appt. I was quickly given the times 330, 400, 415..etc for the day I needed. The appt was for the same day that cookie lip told me, without so much as a blink in the direction of the computer screen that there were no appts. I CRINGE at the thought of going back to this poorly run and obviously mismanaged department. With an unemployment rate of nearly 10%, you would… think MKMG could do a better job of hiring people that want the job. YOU ARE CUSTOMER SERVICE moron, serve the customer. No one made you be a cookie eating high school drop out... don't be angry.

I have been a patient of Dr. Shaw's for almost 10 years. He delivered one of my children, as well as performed surgery on me. He always has a wonderful bed side manner and takes the time to explain everything. As his practice moved to Northern Westchester a few years ago and is slightly more inconvenient for me, I still go to him and think nothing of my 30+ minute trip.

The front office are rude on the phone, not accommodating. I've had my appointment changed several times by the office. I take time off from work to be told last minute not today, the last 3 years. The doctor is wonderful but the front staff doesn't have to be rude when making appointments and when they make you change your appointment, be accommodating.

I had the misfortune of having Dr. Shaw on call the day I went into labor. He was rude and controlling. I had intended on a vaginal delivery and after recieving medication to intensify contractions was told my baby was in distress and would have to have a C-section. After stopping the potocin the heartrate normalized but when I asked if we could wait and see Dr. Shaw told me " No, you have to consent to the section but I'm not giving you a choice you have to have a c-section". He actually even lied and said that there was fetal distess during the night which was untrue. I was actually off the monitor for a large part of the night. I would not reccomend this doctor unless you are scheduling a C-section. He did 4 C-section one after the other that morning. I actually had to wait for him to finish one before he could move on to my c-section. So apparently it wasn't an emergent situation. This doctor likes to cut so be wary if you want to avoid a c-section.

This guy delivered ME, he must be good

saw dr. shaw twice, very very pleased. i am a physician myself. he does everything right, from bedside manner, diagnosis and explanation of problem and treatment plan, to follow up telephone calls, etc. i travel a little farther to see him, but it's more than worthwhile. makes me feel good that someone like him is in the MD profession.
