Dr. Frank Joseph Mongillo III, MD

Dr Mongillo is a caring, trustworthy , thoughtful doctor that listens well to your needs. He is very personable, intelligent and on target in providing medical diagnosis and guidance He is especially a good decision maker in being able to diagnose and get specialist to help you . He was my moms doctor for more than 10 years. He guided her and my family with utmost support through waldenstroms lymphoma progression and several health care facilities till God called her. He is a great Doctor especially for adults and elderly! I trust him implicitly! A kind and compassionate doctor! God Bless Frank!

If there would have been an option to give zero stars, I would have chosen that. I had gone for a routine checkup and bloodwork. The blood test reports were provided 2 months after the test. I had to call multiple times to receive them. There was no follow-up call from their office to go over the test report. The billing department could not resolve an issue with the insurance providers so they have been sending the bill to me over and over again. No parking provision for customers. It's just bad on all fronts and the staff is very rude.

I thought Dr. Mongillo was a thoughtful individual (and was recommended by two other physicians) but his office was dusty, cluttered and run-down. I was shocked when I drove up to the building even before I parked my car. Unfortunately, I don't think I will return. It was probably the worst doctor's office I have ever visited. Sorry, Dr. Mongillo...you should really clean up your office one of these days. It's icky.

Below is the full text of a Letter to the Editor of he New Haven Register that Dr. Frank J. Mongillo III wrote in response to the publication of an inspiring story about a recent graduate of Yale med school, a 44-year-old woman of color who was also a grandmother. He could not abide that. His ranting letter shows that he is someone who has very strong opinions about who in our society is deserving; who deserves to be a doctor, who deserves second chances in life, and in all likelihood that extends all the way out to who deserves the highest quality of health care and which of his patients deserve the best of his time, attention and resources. Also, his writing starts off relatively calm and reasoned but devolves quickly into sarcastic, hateful nonsense. This reveals a man whose capacity for reason is easily overwhelmed by his strong, petty emotions. Do you want to trust a man like this with your health? The Register’s story about the 44-year-old grandmother graduating from the… Yale Medical School is remarkable, but it lacked perspective. Karen Morris’ story is inspiring. It obviously took a great deal of determination. While it is a great thing for Yale to give an older student a chance at medical school, it does not occur without a cost. There are more applicants than positions in medical schools in this country. When a 40-year-old gets through training, he will be at least 47 before starting to practice medicine. This will give him 18 fewer years to practice medicine than the typical doctor who enters medical school after college. We all love stories about people overcoming obstacles and getting second chances, but these stories should not come at the expense of someone else’s first chance. It was heartening to see that Oprah Winfrey arranged for Morris’ student loans to be repaid before she starts her anesthesiology residency. I am sure that it would be difficult for an anesthesiologist to repay $160,000 in student loans. The starting salary for an anesthesiologist is only $207,000 per year, according to Allied Physicians Inc. At that rate, many anesthesiologists lack summer homes. They are forced to get by with timeshares and weekends at the Four Seasons. On second thought, there just might be other students who need debt relief more than Morris. I am sure that the education Morris received will make her an excellent physician. Had she been a health-care prodigy, she probably would have figured out how not to get pregnant at age 16. If you are 22 years old, did not get into medical school and missed your opportunity to become a teenage parent, don’t worry. You still have other chances to have a great story. You can smoke crack, become homeless, and enter rehab. After a few years, you too can be the inspirational story that would make Yale and Winfrey proud. If that does not appeal to you, you could become a spokesman for the Taliban. Yale loves that too.

After moving to Connecticut after 65 years finding a new dr. Was not something I was looking forward to. My visit to Dr Mongillo was a thankful experience. Highly recommend

The office is nothing to look at, and it takes a long time to get an appointment (weeks, typically). But Dr. Mongillo is thoughtful, takes the time to talk through your concerns and doesn't just hustle you out the door, and goes out of his way to keep you from being overcharged by your insurance.
