Frank Petrigliano, MD is a specialist in the field of orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine at UCLA with an emphasis on shoulder, knee, and elbow arthroscopy as well as shoulder replacement. A native of New York, Dr. Petrigliano attended college at Cornell University where he graduated with honors. Dr. Petrigliano then attended the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School for his medical training and completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at UCLA, during which he participated in a one-year research fellowship investigating a tissue-engineered ligament replacement. After residency, Dr. Petrigliano completed fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. During fellowship, Dr. Petrigliano was an assistant team physician to the New Jersey Nets professional basketball team and Iona College Athletics as well as a medical consultant to the United States Tennis Association and the US Open. He is currently an assistant team physician for the UCLA Athletic Department.

Dr. Petrigliano has been extensively involved in both clinical and laboratory research and is the author of numerous peer-reviewed research articles, book chapters, and presentations. Dr. Petrigliano was presented with the AOSSM Aircast Award for his research on the effects of ACL and meniscal injury on knee kinematics. Most recently, he received an OREF Young Investigator Award for his work on rotator cuff injury and repair. His clinical and research interests include: cartilage repair and transplantation, arthroscopic shoulder repair (rotator cuff tears, labrum tears), arthroscopic shoulder stabilization, anterior cruciate and posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, and elbow ligament reconstruction. Dr. Petrigliano performs the latest and most innovative arthroscopic techniques, including all-arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs, anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions, and multi-ligament knee reconstructions. Dr. Petrigliano also performs total shoulder replacements and reverse shoulder replacements. Dr. Petrigliano is board eligible and a member of many professional organizations, including: American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, the International Cartilage Repair Society, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
