Dr. Franklin Jay Pepper, MD

Dr. Pepper has extensive training in his specialty. His notes and records are well kept by his trustworthy office staff. His expertise has been extremely helpful to me and my condition and office treatment plan.

Worst psychiatrist ever. Waiting room was filled with drug addicts. Doctor is too old and needs to retire - he falls asleep in session and write prescriptions for whatever the drug addicts want. Completely worthless if one is seeking a true psychiatric evaluation vs. drugs ..

Dr. Pepper is a nice guy, and I only saw him for medication management of meds that another doctor had prescribed. My first encounter with his office manager was a bit uncomfortable as I asked if I should have my previous records sent and she said in a rather sarcastic manner "only if you've tried to commit suicide or something." I followed up with well actually I have. My appointments consisted of basically just getting refills; however his age made the process go relatively slowly and he was sometimes forgetful. I almost always had to wait 15-20 minutes or more for my appointment (even when I was the first of the day). A couple of times it was over an hour wait. I was always pleasant as I know things happen, but once when I forgot to mark an appointment on my calendar and failed to show up, his office manager called and was very rude to me on the phone even after I apologized profusely and said I would pay for missing the appointment (bright side - she did not make me pay). I also… received a strongly worded letter about this incident. After this incident, the Dr. was over an hour late to one of my appointments because he forgot he had an 8:00. I didn't even see the doctor that day (again bright side they charge me less money). That was my last appointment. I hadn't found a new provider yet, so I wanted to keep my options open and I just said I would call to make a new appointment. That was months ago, and I have never gotten a follow up call from the office which is fine with me but I would expect someone in the mental health field to be better at follow up.

He is supposedly retiring now which probably should have occurred years ago. He is just too old and his memory is failing him and he works hard and is a good dr but I think it's just past his prime unfortunately. He became very forgetful and difficult to work with.

Dr.pepper is a good dr. As long as you are only in need of medications you have been on. His office staff are extremely rude not to mention i have suspicions of them robbing this man,blind!!. Ive never had a problem with him other than these women who make it impossible to speak with the dr. Directly about ANYYHING!! I should add that he has patients working for him. I have a therapist and was only in need of meds that could not be provided where o get couseling from. They dont accept insurance its way too expensive and he can never remember who i am. I recently received a letter dismissing me from his office because i complained about his newest worker/patient tammy who is quite rude and seems to think she should know all of my personal business. I was told in the,letter that if i came back i would have the cops called on me!! Im on three medications that cause withdrawals. I dont even know if the dr. Knows about this letter because these women will sign his name in a heartbeat!! I… was given no referrals or names of other drs. As well as by law this,dr. Is supposed to see me at minimum one last time for thirty days and provide me with my meds while i look for anotherr dr. The letter was very unprofessional and sounded like it was written by an ignorant ticked off office lady who obviously doesnt know the Law or actually thinks that i dont know the laws!!! Patient abandonment is illegal!! And i know of at least four other people this happened to all because the fromt desk ladies had a problem with u. Stopped paying for sessions other than refills because all he did was go over his notes from the previous,sessions. I dont know if i should feel sorry for this man who is going senile and truly needs to retire because these women completely have more control than theu should. Or if i should be angry that i have been treated the way i have because this new office worker for whatever reason pegged me out to not like and when i couldnt get him on the phone and had to show up at his office to speak to him personally. This new office lady yelled at me and was very confrontational and scared my two year old baby. Everything was left on a good note dr. Pepper said i will see you in a couple of weeks shook my hand and tjat was that. Now two days before my scheduled appt. I recieved this letter. Im appalled, and absolutely disgusted with the way i have been treated by this office staff. That office is very qiestionable in its ethics And could cause patients to be severely hurt or even possibly die throwing them out on the street without seeing them one last time like he by law is supposed to

Probably a great psychiatrist on his earlier years, but sadly, this mans brain is starting to go. Very forgetful and out of touch. Seeing has how I'm new to the area and just need medication I've been on for quite some, he suits my needs perfectly. The downside however, this could be the perfect place for a drug seeker. One could walk in and claim to have been on certain medications for long periods, "oh I just moved here and really need to get back on my medication," and walk out with a stimulant or benzo. I feel sorry for the old man as well as the ladies at the desk as it seems they do most of the work. If you're truly looking for help in finding what is right for You, I'd go elsewhere. But if you just want some narcotics this is the place to go.

I was going to write a bad review about how rude whom ever answered the phone was at his office but it doesn't look like I have to. Whom ever picked up happy she was judging by the reviews he seems like an awful doctor.

he has difficulty with diagnosis. does not remember much if anything about me and i'v seen him about 15 times.

It's surprising this guy ever received a medical degree. He is about the worst doctor I have ever seen in the D C area. The man's office is located in a run down condo. The room absolutely no ventilation and all I did was sweat away. The guy also charged $120 to write a prescription for what turned out to be a medication that would have interfered with my regular medicines. A total waste of time, health, and money.

Senile and mean. Do NOT go. He doesn't know who you are. He is interested in money. Could not care less about you. Cannot read his own notes. Takes 45 minutes to use his file to figure out what he prescribed last time even when you tell him. Aggressive and unkind. Like all the others said, he frequently seems out of it or almost asleep. Honestly, I am amazed he is still practicing legally.
