Dr. Franz Carl Theard, MD

Excellent doctor who makes a connection with his patients.

Today I went in for my annual exam, and to find a new birth control method. (Also to discuss pain I've been having). And I left his office in tears. Dr. Theard is the most unprofessional Doctor I have ever met, and in this field of medicine it is just absolutely unacceptable. I spoke to him about non hormonal birth control methods because I am already on hormones for PCOS. The entire time we spoke he shook his head and gave disapproving comments. He told me I should "consider starting my family," I am only 22 and I'm still going to school. He then yammered on about infertility (a fact that I'm well aware of and terrified of). He told me I needed to "stay away" from my general practitioner and that he would refer me to someone who dealt with IUDs and sent me off (without giving me my exam) saying that when I was ready to "make babies" to come see him, until then he would "lend" me to another doctor. Oh and still tried to charge me my copay. Apparently he is very good with women who are… either expecting or have already filled their womanly duty of having children. But if you're not planning on conceiving anytime soon I would definitely recommend going elsewhere.

Dr. Theard Franz is one of the best OBYGN Doctors I have ever met. He helped me trough thick and thin with my pregnancies and even after my pregnancies. Both pregnancies were high risk and now I have two healthy babie. Thank you Dr. Theard. Ladies I recommend Him

Theard is rude, inappropriate, mishandled my wife's c-section, caused her a lot of complications

The most horrific experience in my life. An abortion with no anesthesia.... I have had nightmares since.

This clinic performed very sadly my termination. They did not properly care for me and still till this day they have not called me to check on my condition. My personal OB/GYN had to perform emergency surgery on me to stop me from bleeding out.

Best OB/GYN ever! I'd been through a few others and when I found Dr. Theard, I quickly learned I had found the best! He is an excellent physician, doesn't recommend unnec procedures, has excellent bed/table-side manner, excellent Assistant (Yvette), and has taken care of all my OB/GYN needs over the years. I now fly in for my appts since I have moved to Austin. Wouldn't trust my GYN health to anyone else! My daughter he delivered 22 yrs ago now goes to him, too.

Dr Theard is a great doctor, tho very rushed for time. He has a good staff, but is in very high demand. He does high risk pregnancies and is one of only a few in El Paso. I have been with him 18 years. Wait time is long, but he is worth it. I no longer need an OB, but have not changed to anyone else, despite the wait.

About 27yrs ago Dr. Franz Theard saved my life. I went into full dilation within minutes after arriving at hospital. Baby was breach (face first), stuck in the canal, and I was severely hemorrhaging. I don't think anyone else could have acted as quick & with such composure as he did. The nurse even told my mother it was time to get down on her knees and pray for me & the baby. It was extremely difficult getting the baby through as I had complete anesthesia. The nurses had to push on my stomach and forceps were used. The baby was in ICU, bruised, and jaundiced. I received 3rd degree tears. He even opted for not giving me a blood transfusion even though I was extremely weak. Considering that there were so many diseases being contracted by transfusion back then I am so grateful for that decision. Weak and traumatized but we made it through (Baby and I). I thank God for having put Dr. Theard in that room with me. He truly was heaven sent.With the second baby 12 years later he… said we wouldn't take that route again. I had a C-Section instead. I wouldn't trust anyone else. (He's worth the wait)

Always rushed. He's running out the door while your still asking questions after you have waited 2-3 hours. Delivers you in a blink of an eye but doesn't stick around to answer questions. Good doctor just doesn't have enough time.
