A native of Columbia, Dr. Husserl earned his medical degree from the Universidad del Valle, Cali, Colombia where he also completed his internship. He completed an additional internship and residency at Charity hospital in New Orleans (Tulane Division) followed by a nephrology fellowship at Ochsner. Dr. Husserl is a prolific researcher and has authored over 50 scientific medical articles. Among his many professional responsibilities, is on the Advisory Board of the Latino Health Access Network, and the Board of the Hispanic American Medical Association of Louisiana. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, and he has a special interest in peritoneal dialysis and patient-physician communication. Dr. Husserl is the Medical Director of the Houma DSI Dialysis Unit. And the FMC Peritoneal Dialysis unit. Has been named amongst the best Nephrologist in New Orleans for the last 10 years.
