Dr. Frederick Joseph Denstman, MD

I took my father to see Dr Dentsman on the recommendation of another doctor. We went through the whole process of intake in an exam room. When Dr Dentsman was ready to see us, we were brought into his office. Basically, he made my father feel foolish for being there and we left without an exam being done. I am sure that the doctor got his fee. However, all he did was to belittle my elderly father and disparage the doctor that sent us to him. He was rude and inconsiderate and showed absolutely no compassion.

I'm going to be upfront and let you know this rating is based upon the care he provided my brother and I talked at length to my sister-in-law to get specifics on things. Twice Dr, Dentsman has had to perform surgery on my brother, and twice he saved his life. My brother lives south of Baltimore so their meeting was "Divine Providence" in my book. My brother's health has pretty much always been good until his first bout with his colon in his late 50s. He and his family trusted in the doctor to treat him for his malady which never really went away...it just less. Then one day as he was almost finished with his route (he works for Giant Supermarket), his pain was so bad he had to pull his semi off the road and call an ambulance. The hospital they took him to then assigned his case to Dr. Denstman and in a relatively short time, Dr. Denstman accomplished something my brothers doctors in Maryland couldn't. Jump ahead to these last 4 months and his doctors couldn't really "fix" for… various reasons which sounded legit...I'm not a doctor so I have to trust them. Now, jump ahead to these last 4 months...the actions was something similar to a hospital revolving door for my brother: in a few days out for a week, back in for a week, out for a few days...you see the pattern. When the last problem occured, my bother acted on the leading from his and our families...they made the 2 hour drive to Christiana Hospital. Unfortunately my brother's situation "needlessly" took a turn for worse. Again, thanks to Dr. Dentsman's knowledge, experience, and expertise, I will get to help my brother celebrate his 64th birthday this month. My sister-in-law also spoke of the compassion Dr. Denstman showed he and my brother. When someone is really sick, it affects more than just the patient....it also has a tremendous affect on the family. And from everything I've heard from my brother's family, it's clear to me Dr. Denstman gets it and understands. After my brother's surgery Dr. Denstman took the time and explained to my sister-in-law, in detail, what he did and why he had to do that way. Before I decided to write this review on Dr. Denstman I talked to my sister-in-law to get her feelings (and I already know the level of trust the family in general has for Dr. Denstman), but I wanted to write this review a) to spread some good news for a change that there are still very competent and compassionate doctors in the U.S., and b) to give credit where credit is due because patients do read reviews on physicians. So if someone is need of a doctor in this field, pick one with knowledge, experience, expertise, and compassion. You really won't go wrong with Dr. Denstman...he's got all four. :-)

Kind, considerate and approachable....extremely competent!

I was impressed that Dr Denstman first sat with me in his office to review my medical records and to ask questions. I had an accute, painful problem that he examined and dealt with straightaway. I highly recommend him. Nice office staff.

He is a life saver!!

Dr. Denstman has been my doctor over 20 years, he diagnosed my ulcertive colitis and has prescribed medication which alleviates my symptoms. His office staff have always been pleasant and my appointments have been on time.

Dr. Dentzman's the best

Both my husband and I have been treated by Dr Dentsman and were veery pleased with him. My husband had surgery back 1992 with him when other doctors had not helped. I just had surgery for a fissure which I was told would heal by itself which it would not have. Now my husband has another problem and Dr. Dentsman spend time going over all the paperwork and tests he had done and came up with a possible solution after many years of many doctors.

Dr. Denstman is great! His office staff are not and they make him look bad. They do not return calls or follow up on anything! They shut their phones down 30 minutes before their 1 hour lunch break in which their phones are shut down. It also seems that they want to see you in the office numerous times for pointless reasons...not sure if they just want more insurance $??? Overall not the best Dr.s "office" experience.

Most rude, actively unsympathetic , distant, pompous doctor I have ever encountered. Never on time. Ever. And not just a little bit late; I waited at least an hour for every visit (along with at least ten other people in the waiting room). He acts as if your questions are dumb or silly (they are neither) and as if you are really just a bother to him. Worst bedside manner I have ever witnessed. I will never go back (I have a return problem and will drive in to Philly to see a specialist there) and I would never recommend him to anyone. Go to one of his partners or Philly.
