Dr. Frederick Sewoong Oh, MD

Dr Oh was very good and reviewed my test results. I had minor discomfort in my shoulder and he provided a list of exercises that would build up and loosen muscle. He indicated that I should return for follow up in 60 days if discomfort continued. No complaints as to how he handled my health condition and concerns.

Doctor Oh goes above and beyond to truly listen and give his medical expertise back. I’ve never had a doctor who listens to you and if you don’t like what they say, will break it down and work with you on a plan to tune it. Very receptive to message asked feedback and goes above and beyond. I moved here from Ohio and never in my thirty years of life have had a doctor who cares about my well being, more than I do.

I’m surprised by all the other reviews here. I’ve had extremely positive experiences with Dr. Oh. I previously had an issue that doctors couldn’t diagnose, and Dr. Oh was the 7th doctor I spoke to and he helped me finally resolve it. In addition, he’s great at covering all bases, and he’s very responsive to inquiries through the Sutter ap. I’d recommend him to friends and family for sure.

The most terrible experience ever. We have been with Sutter for a couple of years and we have been really happy with our former family doctor. However, our family doctor moved to another city this year and we have to change. As we have been with Sutter for a couple of years, we did not check much on reviews and we totally trust all doctors Sutter have. This is what happened: My husband went to Sutter to have his annual wellness check and Dr. Oh asked him if he felt anything uncomfortable, to which my husband explained that he might have slight hearing loss. Dr. Oh took a look at his ears with an Otoscope and told him they looked good(we have an Otoscope at home which does not require any special knowledge to know if the ears look good or not), but he didn't use a tuning fork or any other hearing test kits to test if this was true, or if that was anything abnormal even when a tuning fork was in the room. He did not try to give any suggestions on reasons or he even did not… bother to ask any questions about anything special happened recently or how long it has been... He said Sutter would refer my husband to an ENT doctor if "you find one". And my husband reminded him of a flu shot which used to be from the reminders of our former doctor. All in all, the wellness check lasted for less than 10 minutes. The doctor seemed not interested in anything related to the new patient he had. And to our surprise after a couple of days, we got an Office Visit bill together with a wellness check bill, all because of our specific requirements: hearing loss and flu shot. When we went to him to ask about it, he did not explain anything but kicked the ball to the billing department with all those codes that patients can never understand. When a patient goes to a doctor for a wellness check, then it is wellness check. If there is anything beyond that, or if there is something that is NOT included in a regular wellness check, which means another code will be used in billing, please CONFIRM with the patient before you do it, no matter the money is from insurance or from patients' pockets. Doctors are not supposed to trick patients' money. They are to help patients. When my kid had hearing problem a couple of months ago, the pediatrician(fortunately not Dr. Oh) tested her carefully, asked me tons of questions from the medicines she took to allergies she might have. She told me she wanted to try to cure her ear infection before sending my kid to an ENT. And she did a special hearing test for my kid when we went there later for annual wellness check. For all those doctor visits, I was more than happy to pay, because the doctor deserve all that. From Angus's comment, I guess this is just who Dr. Oh is. People say Dr. Oh does not like kids, but the truth is, he does not like men either. Therefore, please be careful with Dr. Oh when you talk during your wellness check. Ask him if he would bill anything "specific" before he does anything. You never want unexpected bills because of casual talks and casual checkups.

Terrible family doctor experience. We went to him to see if we wanted to switch our care from Berkeley pediatrics. We needed a shot for our son, and he added on multiple services that dramatically increased our overall bill. My wife had specifically called and to check on the cost of the shot, and yet our bill was completely different. We were OK with the charge for a regular office visit (even though it was not necessary), but then he proceeded to add on a travel visit. His travel “consult” consisted of a Google search and going to the CDC website. My wife and I had already done this and we don’t feel like paying a doctor several hundred dollars to read off a website and information we already know. A nurse could have handled the whole visit, and our interaction with the doctor was terrible. Finally, we hear from his staff that he doesn’t like to see children. How can you be a family practioner when you don’t like to see certain ages / members of the family? We will he… staying with Berkeley Pediatrics, and are incredibly disappointed with both Dr Oh and this practice for how they have handled office visits and billing.

I asked this doctor about possibly getting an MRI for a sports injury and he said there's a lot of radiation with an MRI. I said I think you mean a lot of radiation from a CT scan?

This doctor is awful. He doesnt seem to have knowledge and experience. Rude and was in a rush to go out during the diagnosis. He doesnt listen to his patient.

Awful experience. I would not recommend this doctor. I felt more like a checklist than a person. His face was buried in a computer.

this guy totally doesn't care in my opinion. looked sleepy and tired and miserable, did not want to be there and did not want to see me. and i get these strange vibes from him, i don't trust him. and i know he probably had a laugh with his colleagues at my medical ailment's expense. he seems like the type to gossip at another's expense in myopinion.
