Dr. Frederick Origenes, MD

Very poor bedside manners. If I need to have a mammogram @ Columbia St Mary's women's center (Lake Dr) I will be requesting someone else. I have heard good things about Dr. Berg.

I felt a lump and had a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. Dr. Origenes read the results and said it was probably fibrocystic breast tissue. He recommended returning in one year for my annual mammogram and was not concerned. One year later I was I was diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer (stage 0, grade 3). I have had a very rough course (double mastectomy with recurrence 5 mos later, radiation, chemo, and numerous surgeries/breast reconstruction). The moral of the story, if you feel and lump (mine was very pronounced) do not wait a year, at the very least follow up in 6 mos or demand an MRI. If Dr. Origenes' wife had a breast lump and he could not definitively diagnose it, do you think he would have recommended waiting a year? I doubt it.
