Dr. Frederick Daniel Scheel, MD

The staff are very great, especially Ashley. I was a patient of Dr Frederick Scheel’s. After 4 years, I asked to switch to Dr Sears. The nurse asked why and informed her it was because Dr Scheel does bad patient assessments. I was informed that the practice was terminating care with me due to a “breakdown in the Dr/patient relationship.” Apparently, I hurt Dr Scheel’s fragile feelings and mangina. Instead of using that as a wake up call or reaching out to see what he is doing wrong, I was terminated from the practice. Dr Scheel missed two very critical diagnosis’s over the 4 years. That happens but when you do not examine or assess the patient and keep your head buried in your computer, that is a problem. Most presently, I fell and injured my back and had severe pain radiating down my leg with neuro deficits to the leg. Dr Scheel put his hand on my back and said “ you have back spasms.”That was it. No neuro exam. Nothing. No xrays, nothing. He prescribed a muscle relaxer and naproxen.… Which, if he would have listened, i already tried naproxen. After a few days with no relief and almost in tears from pain, I called back for help and a nurse named Dylan said, “Dr Scheel will prescribe you some new meds and send you to a pain management doctor.” My response, “What? The pain is a symptom. I don’t want pain management doctor, I want to find the cause.” I suggested an X-ray which I came in for an X-ray finally. Long story short, MRI revealed a bulging disc with nerve compression. In 2017, I went to see Dr Scheel trice in one week for severe pain and difficulty urinating. Again, no exam. No hands on the patient. Nothing. He said it was a pulled muscle. I went in a third time that week and was diagnosed with acute bacterial prostatitis by Dr Troyer. Apparently when I tried to switch to another doctor in the practice because of his “poor assessments “ (that is literally all I said in a calm voice) his fragile mangina was injured. He booted me out of the practice. Someone who was conscientious about their work, would have been mortified. A real doctor would have called the patient and asked what was wrong and apologized. Scheel is neither of those. He is either lazy or ignorant. Either way, do not go to him.

Very nice guy. However, he does extremely poor assessments. He spends most of his time talking to you with his face buried in his computer and you constantly have to repeat things because of that. Going in for extremesback pain from a fall; touches my back for 10 seconds and says you have back spasms. No xrays done at that time. Tried meds and didn’t work. Finally did xrays and an mri which revealed a compressed nerve. Then pawned me off on a pain manage doctor until I could get into the neurosurgeon. Also, went in several years ago for severe pain behind the scrotum. No assessment whatsoever. He said it is probably a pulled muscle. I went in 2 days later because the pain was worse. I seen the on call who diagnosed me with acute bacterial prostatitis. Again, super nice guy but terrible and assessments.

My experience with Dr. Scheel is that he is a physician that would be great if you know something about the medical field. I feel as though I have an idea about what I have, share that with him, and then he assigns the diagnosis I told him I thought I had.
