Dr. Frederick Smith, MD

Dr. Smith has been treating me since l995 and he has made my life better ever since.

I came across a picture of myself 5 years ago before I met Dr Smith and compared it to what I look like today after his chemo treatments and arimidex. I have to say he and his nurses assured me that my hair would come back. unfortunately they didn’t say what it would come back AS. he is aware of my permanent hair loss and his attitude has been so what. After finding out how much he depends on big pharma for income am not so sure I received the best of care for myself.

when I went to him I was scared and all I wanted was to get through my cancer experience. he took advantage of that to the max. I was bullied into my treatment plan. I felt he was coy and withheld info from me I heard inconsistencies among the team that he lead. he shrugged and was rude and dismissive to me when I complained about problems with the drugs he pushed on me after chemo...hair loss that at this I believe is permanent for one. I feel as though I have been disfigured. when I found out how much he got in “ incentives” from the drug companies that made these terrible drugs I then realized that one’s treatment plan will be made from whatever will get his office the most money rather than what is best for the patient. that being said, since cancer is such big business, I wouldn’t trust a doctor who has drug salesmen constantly in and out of his office.

Dr. Smith has been excellent at communicating and explaining to me my options. I have been able to be involved in my care throughout the process. He is clear that he cares about his patients. He was the right doctor for me given my confusion after my diagnosis and surgery.

The best oncologist in the DC area. He has outstanding knowledge and a wonderful nursing staff! Administrators are very helpful with insurance matters. Blood work handled onsite. There is often a wait of about 30 minutes but that's not unusual when you're waiting for the best medical care. I know of many others who see Dr. Smith and also rate him the best!

Very knowledgable with balanced views on treatments. Explains calmly the pros and cons and guides you on decisions. Treats patients with respect and take the time to answer questions. He does not make one feel that a question is silly. I am grateful for his advice and treatment. He helped me navigate my initial shock of being diagnose of cancer. Each time that I see him I feel positive about my treatment and survival chances. Thank you, Dr. Smith!

Dr. Smith is an excellent doctor. He has a great manner and is one of the only doctors I have ever been to that actually does a thorough physical exam each time he sees you. He explains every aspect of your care and takes time to answer questions. I am aware that he has been criticized for not spending enough time with patients but if you have questions he will always see you and if you are there for chemo he works beautifully with his nurses who will get anything you need or get you in to see him immediately, if needed. I would recommend him without hesitation. I came to him after being at Hopkins where I had a team of doctors and he clarified my treatment plan.

I was not his patient but a family member. I found him extremely professional and compassionate. He treated my sister with respect and she was always involved in her care. Some of these reviews are not of the man I met. Cancer does not always have a positive outcome and he was honest with my sister, what she chose to tell us was her decision not his. Thank you for being a kind, gentle man in a very destructive field of medicine.

Extremely unknowledgeable about my family member's cancer, yet arrogant and dismissive in conversation. Took so long to provide test results and to return a phone call that the doctor caused a series of events leading to death. Lied when asked about what happened. I would not recommend this doctor at all.

dr Smith cured my ovarian cancer. He has a gentle and patient bedside manner and takes all the time one needs fir questions. Ge works very well with the other DC specialists (surgeons) and is an expert. His chemoroom us calm and soothing and comfortable and tge entire supportive professional atmosphere in tge office is reassuring. Thus is tge best care one can get.
