Dr. Frederick Robert Taylor IV

I saw Dr. Taylor from 1994 until he left Park Nicollet. He helped me immensely with my migraine headaches. Further, he did hospitalize me for a week at Methodist using intravenous DHE....medication that broke a horrendous cycle of daily, excruciating migraines. Additionally, Dr. Taylor wrote numerous letters to my employer as I tried to keep working...trying to find a way to keep me a functioning member of the workforce. When that did not work he and his staff graciously and successfully filled out all of my disability forms. His bedside manor was at times curt, but always direct and respectful, and he was very tough on me because he knew I could do more to decrease my migraines. We did a food diary and elimination diet, took care of female issues that caused terrible monthly migraines, I went totally fragrance and 2nd hand smoke free, took biofeedback, meditation and healing touch. I still utilize all three to this day.. . And we discussed every medication he suggested and why he… felt it was needed in my case. If they did not work...we tried something else. We worked together, along with his phenomenal staff. They expected me to do ALOT of work and I did. It was not easy but I removed every trigger, with Dr. Taylor's knowledge and help except for one...the weather and barometric pressure..something we did not have control of. I will always be grateful to him and wish him well. I sincerely hope that those of you who suffer from migraines have found a Doctor that FITS your needs. Migraines are terrible and those who don't have migraines will never know the pain we suffer and depths of our disrepair. Was this rating usef

I was a Patient of Dr. Taylor for many years . I saw him for headache management. He helped me a great deal. As a result of his efforts and mine I now have fewer suffering headaches and I feel much more able to manage them with a combination of medication and other methods. I did not experience Dr. Taylor as a warm Physician, however, I could tell by his actions that he cared very much about helping me. Appointments were not always easy for me as he was not satisfied with me just doing Ok; he kept pushing the envelope, urging me to do more to help myself as well as him considering what he could bring to the effort. He suggested other methodologies such as Yoga, Pt, exercise, etc. as adjuncts to medications and other supplements.. He always was eager to share the latest research that might be helpful. I viewed his work as very wholistic with a view that medicine, reduced stress, happiness and better self esteem can and do have a direct impact on headaches and overall good health. As I… have move closer to those ideals I feel the benefit. I will always be grateful to Dr. Taylor and wish him the best.

I am curious who wrote his personal statement for him, or if he magically had a life-changing awakening... I have late stage disseminated Central nervous system Lyme disease, untreated so long, I now have MS... & TWO BRAIN ANEURYSMS. all of these, undiagnosed by Dr Taylor. I was his patient for nearly 15 years. I am lucky I am still alive. I always left feeling belittled & insulted. Constantly told by him that "it's all in your head" so I would see a psychiatrist (he told me it was mandatory for chronic pain patients) who would just write for more pills. I was seriously over medicated & never really heard. This mans ego is out of control. He would go on about rebound HA & actually told me "you need to relax, find someone to give you a backrub three times a day"! Unbelievable... The fact that my nervous system is damaged & constantly telling my muscles to constrict, it was literally impossible to relax. I had headache pain EVERY SINGLE DAY! The head & neck pain finally drove me… out of work & I found good doctors who listened & saved my life. I only stayed with him because he lied in the beginning & told me the only way to continue with the physical therapist (the ONLY relief I had) was through his & only his referral, " it is a closed practice". The day she retired, I found out that was untrue. Also, he is considered the "best HA specialist" in Pk Nicollet's system (because of all his articles being published, which he was always glad to point out) no other neurologist in the system would step on his toes &/or discount his previous conclusions... I felt trapped & did not know how to advocate for myself. I am now glad he so rudely told me to just relax as my occipital cramping had me in tears & I couldn't see out of my right eye... Had he not been so dismissive & arrogant, I would not have been so devastated as to peruse respectable doctors with compassion & knowledge to actually help, not just write papers. Had he not said that to me when I was vulnerable & devastated, had I stayed under his "care", I would surely be dead from my largest, now coiled aneurysm....

For serious migraine issues, Dr. Taylor is exceptional.

Dr. is grumpy and doesn't listen to his patients.

I learned that Dr Taylor was no longer with Park Nicollet days before my appointment . It has been a very difficult transition seeing another neurologist at the clinic. My experience with a Dr Beattie was no where near as in depth , compassionate , and knowledgable as my experiences with Dr. Taylor. He will be greatly missed by his patients and I will continue to watch for an update as to where he is practicing.

Dr. Taylor is gone Hoorah !!

After seeing 4 nuerologists I met Dr. Taylor. He listened to me and after years of struggling with migraines 24/7 Dr. Taylor found the solution. I now have a significant decrease in my migraines and feel like a new person. I trust Dr. Taylor with my life and recommend him to everyone I meet who struggles with headaches. My sister is also his patient and he has done wonders for her as well.

Dr. Taylor is a wonderful neurologist! He has the most knowledge about migraine headaches than any other Dr. that I have been to and is willing to share his expertise with his patients. I wanted to be understand and be involved with the medications that I was taking and he took the time to explain them to me and my husband. To let us know the side effects and what to expect while on the meds, how long they took to take effect, etc. I was impressed with the time that he took to explain things. not all Dr.s will do this.

I've seen quite a few doctors over the years, and Dr. Taylor is the only one who's believed my symptoms and has been willing to work as long as it takes to manage my medicines until I find the right one. His bedside manner is a little cool until you start taking charge of your own health and stop relying on him to make the choices. Then he's very supportive and respectful.
