Dr. Frederick B Vivino, MD

Of all the physicians I have seen in my lifetime, Dr. Vivino has been the most compassionate and the most knowledgeable in all fields of medicine, not just rheumatology. I have always treasured his fine care

Dr. Frederick Vivino is an excellent doctor, who is competent, meticulous, and very thorough in explaining the complex aspects of the desease and the treatment for it. He is one of very rare doctors who do not rush patients out the door. So the long waiting time, which sometimes exceeds 2 & 1/2 hours, could be forgiven. I will keep him!

He has his own agenda/script from a play and is not capable of deviating from it. He will make answers up rather than say "I don't know". He is not flexible and cannot alter orders and advice based on individual need. His research on sjogren's falls into the easy mechanical stuff- not the more difficult cutting edge stuff that requres brain power. He will not discuss the science. If you are opinionated or read medical journal articles, don't bother. Good for patients not too knowlegeble who like someone to rest a hand on their shoulder to show he cares (part of his script)

One of the best bedside manners of any specialist I habe been to. Not unusual for him to spend an hour with a patient who has concerns.

I have been a patient of Dr. Vivino for a very long time; and during those years, he has provided me with expert diagnostic and humanistic care. It is true that you may have to put up with a secretarial burp or two, but that doesn't discourage me from driving from Maryland to Philadelphia for my appointments. I wouldn't want any other Doctor!

I've been a patient of Dr. Vivino's for about 5 years. It has become nearly impossible to get an appointment in a timely fashion and I usually wait in the office well more than an hour for any scheduled visit. He is an excellent dr, so the wait has been worth it, however, not being able to see him during times of emergency and illness is extremely frustrating. He has too many patients. I trust him, he has been excellent, it's just no longer worth it to wait so long to see him.

Vivino and his staff will not answer patient telephone inquiries. He prescribed a medication which is unavailable. My pharmacist and I have caled and sent messages by fax over a six-week period. I have left voicemail messages on the doctor's phone system, and have faxed my inquiry to his office. Neither the doctor nor any member of his staff have responded at all.
