I highly recommend Dr. Froylan Gonzalez, who gave me back quality of life by performing surgery on me. My problem was that my prostate had enlarged with age, increasingly causing my urinary symptoms to keep me from leading a normal, relaxed life. My local urologist in South Georgia for several years had advised me to follow a plan of active surveillance, but my symptoms slowly worsened until finally I suddenly couldn’t urinate and needed to be put on a catheter. For years, I had been hearing wonderful things about Dr. Gonzalez, including from a neighbor who had come down with prostate cancer, and he was wildly happy after Dr. Gonzalez removed his prostate with wonderful success, leaving my neighbor feeling no ill effects. Once I connected with Dr. Gonzalez, he ordered several tests to put together a thorough work-up on my condition, and he recommended surgery to open up the urinary channel through my prostate. He performed a combination of a green-light laser and TURP surgery, and… I now have a remarkably improved quality of life. Before surgery, I had the usual BPH problems of feeling urgency to urinate but having difficulty being able to do so, but now I’m readily able to urinate, and my urinary stream is as strong as when I was decades younger, and, too, I’ve experienced no incontinence. Before the surgery, I had become nervous about going out in public because I was concerned about the awkwardness of experiencing acute urinary urgency. However after the surgery, I’ve been back to what a couple of decades ago had been normal for me, in that I now can keep up a healthy liquid intake throughout the day and feel relaxed about going out into public knowing that, if needed, I’ll have reasonably ample time to find a restroom. When I was a young man, I didn’t foresee how severely the common enlarging of the prostate could impact quality of life so significantly, and I’m very glad to have been under the care of such a knowledgeable urologist and highly skilled surgeon. I’ll also note that Dr. Gonzalez is very busy because it seems many patients come to him because they’ve heard, as I did, about his good reputation. However, I always have felt that he was paying careful attention to my situation. I always have felt a friendly, respectful warmth from him, and he always has listened well and been responsive to me. Also each member of his staff I’ve encountered has been courteous, friendly, efficient and very helpful.

First time visit with Dr. Gonzalez. Unhurriedly took the necessary time to review my past history and current situation. Very professional and knowledgeable yet relaxed and personable. Highly recommend.

I was referred to Doctor Gonzalez after a recent diagnosis of prostate cancer. As you would expect, I had a lot of questions and concerns. In my first visit he conveyed a sense of “this is going to be Ok”. He was confident and very knowledgeable regarding my condition. He was open to second opinions and even made recommendations. Dr. Gonzalez has performed thousands of robotic radical prostatectomies. You don’t want someone without experience doing this procedure. If they don’t cut enough, they leave some cancer. If they cut too much, they will damage the nerves. My surgery went great! The only discomfort was the bloating a few hours after the procedure. (They pump you full of air). I’m cancer free and no nerve damage. Thank you very much for everything Doctor Gonzalez.

When I was asked by the urologist whose name I had been given at the hospital, if I would see another Dr. whom he and several of his colleagues recommended for a second opinion, I had no hesitation. The sound of tumor and cancer left me very concerned. An appointment was made with Dr. Gonzalez. My daughter went with me....Dr. G was so personable and confident....we were both very impressed. I, though, tried to play ostrich for a few months. One day after much prayer, Dr. G's scheduling nurse called just to check in with me. Answer to prayer...sign me up. Surgery without having my entire side cut open. Since that day, I have had no hesitation in following whatever guidelines I was given. He has been so kind and concerned, giving my waiting family all details and instructions. My yearly follow-up checks have been good. He takes the time to answer questions and give explanations. Dr. G is well-trained, knowledgeable and kind...do not hesitate to recommend him anytime one of… our friends or acquaintances mentions urology or kidneys...thank you for all of your time and dedication to your profession. I have been a patient of Dr. Gonzalez for the past 8 years and I highly recommend him as both a talented and precision surgeon and a caring , proficient physician.. Using robotic surgery ,Dr. Gonzalez removed my cancerous prostate in 2011, and thanks to Dr. G and our LORD, I have been cancer free since.. Sincerely , John G Brown

Dr Gonzalez is nothing short of an amazing doctor. By the time I sought his care I had been told many different things by at least 4 different doctors with no real answers or explanation for what was happening with my health. He was the first doctor to sit down beside me and illistrate what the tests meant and what his action plan was. He explained everything thoroughly and made an effort to be sure I understood what was happening with my body. Then he went above and beyond to find resolutions to my health concerns. I could barely make it through a day without crying due to discomfort and pain. He was persistent to work until we found resolutions to not only improve my health but also to prevent issues from arising again. His guidance and thoughtfulness during my care surpasses anything I could have expected. There is not a doctor I have ever seen that I trust more with my care.

My mom went to Dr Gonzalez because she had a mass on her kidney that was suspicious of cancer. Dr Gonzalez was referred by her kidney doctor because he specialized in dealing with patients who are over weight and difficult. He attempted surgery. We were then told after about 30 mins that he couldn't do the surgery and that WE (my family) should tell my mom that the surgery was NOT performed. To make things worse, he gave her no follow up instructions and just left her out there with no more follow up plans. I felt that was very unprofessional for him to 1. Leave us to tell his patient that entrusted him that he wasn't able to do the surgery and why. 2. Give her a follow up plan to avoid the mass growing, which it did. He threw her away like she was nothing. I would never refer this doctor to anyone. His bed side manners and patient care sucks!!!!! I hope he never does this to any other family ever again

After fighting kidney stones for almost a year and having 5 procedures while under the care of a different physician my kidney eventually failed. I was referred to Dr. Gonzalez for surgery. His compassion and concern for my situation gave me confidence and comfort that the surgery would be successful which it definitely was and through my follow up visits helped me understand why I was having kidney stones and has given me a thorough plan to keep my other kidney healthy. I am very grateful!
